Welcome!

We hope you'll find that it has all the information you need to get the most out of The Archers, presented in an easy-to-use way.
To familiarise yourself with everything that it has to offer, we recommend that you take the site tour
If you're a user of the old site, you'll recognise many of the features, although they have been spruced up a bit. But there are some completely new areas too.
Blog
One of the most important is this blog. This will be the main source of news about and concerning The Archers (like our old Backstage News area). But now, you can respond directly to the news items using the comments box at the bottom of every post.
Discuss
There are more opportunities to discuss the programme - or see what others are saying - via our Discuss page, which summarises conversations both on out own message board, and elsewhere, such as Facebook and Twitter.
Feedback
Do tell us what you think about the new site. We are currently making some updates and corrections to content, and we'll continue to make improvements in the light of your experiences.
NB - you can get these blog posts delivered (free of charge) to your computer, without having to come back to the site every time. The panel on the right: 'Subscribe to The Archers blog' tells you how.
Keri Davies is an Archers scriptwriter and web producer.

No. George died while he and Chris were RENTING Woodbine Cottage, and expecting to move back in to the new bungalow.
2. YET GAIN, Alistair and Jim, speaking characters, are sidelined in favour of Bunty and Reg, silents who have pride of place as “Hebden Family,” but the Lloyds have nowt.

I'm sure the few tweaks that need to be done to the new website will be sorted soon! I'm not finding any major problems with it, myself. I'm using Internet Explorer 8 and it's all loading perfectly for me.

Recent stories about Jazzer.....To me Jazzer will always look like a previous scottish colleague,Fraser, though the real Ryan Kelly bears no ressemblence. Sorry Ryan, you are too slim to be Jazzer!

However I still cannot find the synopsis - a basic requirement.
If I have missed an episode, I often log in at night just to check what has happened. I may not wish to listen to the full 15 mins, but I do appreciate the synopsis.
The same goes when travelling abroad. It's great to keep in touch by reading a synopsis, but often this basic information is not there.
Or is it really there, but I am being thick and just can't see it. Maybe I need Harry to teach me!

We have had a few technical problems with the synopsis system, so I'm sorry if there have been occasions when the latest synopsis wasn't visible, but this is the system:
1. Select the episode you want. The most recent six are on the homepage in the panel at the top. They can also be found on the Catch Up page, along with a link ("Full synopsis archive") to episodes back to 2007.
2. Click on the link for the synopsis ("Read the synopsis" or "Read the full synopsis") In the archive, click on the date.
3. This takes you to the "programme page" for that particular episode. If it's from the last seven days you can listen to the programme on iPlayer.
4. Click on "Show full description (may contain plot spoilers)". This will reveal the synopsis.
We've done it this way so that people coming to listen to the programme don't have their enjoyment spoiled by seeing the synopsis first. Listeners told us this was very important.

Surely this is nonsense? Jim and he, plus Shula and Daniel, all four speaking characters, and Lloyds by birth, marriage and adoption, should have their family name taking precedence over the non-speaking Bunty and Reg?

At which time we will be marking (celebrating) the 70th anniversary. By then there will, surely, be a new editor - or TA will be no more.
In either case Alistair will still be sidelined, and Daniel's generation will be grabbing the headlines.
That is, if Ambridge still exists and hasn't been turned into a major housing development and out-of-town retail experience.
