Ellie and Vito win Strictly 2023

After an incredible final that saw the return of their fierce Paso Doble and beautiful American Smooth the couple also performed an incredible Showdance to a Jennifer Lopez mega mix.

The Judges awarded them their first 40 of the competition for their American Smooth, however their scores were just for guidance, the votes were down to you the viewers at home. After being awarded the coveted Glitterball Trophy Ellie said... "I actually, genuinely cannot believe this... This is for you (Vito).

Her partner Vito said. "This is like the cherry on the cake. It's like the point of the iceberg, you know in the water. All the big on is downstairs. All the bruises and blisters and the stuff you had... You are Strictly you represent Strictly. You are amazing I'm so proud."

Ellie has become the youngest Strictly winner in history!

    From another blog…Layton didn’t cast himself in Strictly. He’s not trained in ballroom, Latin or partner dancing. He certainly didn’t deserve the vicious trolling that came his way, especially when it spilled over into vile racist and homophobic abuse. He showed remarkable resilience and class to rise above it, let alone continue to bring so much energy and sass.

    Well done 👏 I thought tonight final was one of the best in a long time . Loved all finalists but enjoyed Bobby the most . Happy for Ellie and Vito and thought Layton and Nikita were magnificent 👏👏👏👏👏 all couples were amazing 😻 thanks for putting on such a brilliant show 🥰🥰🥰

    What a wonderful final and, as far as I’m concerned the right result but I’d have been happy for any of the couples to win.

    The right result overall, her and Bobby, when you look at where they were and how good they became, and Ellie was better than Bobby.
    Layton, amazing dancer but too good, came with too much pre experience and therefore was never going to win and rightly so if the show wanted to maintain any merit.

    Congratulations Ellie and Vito, lovely partnership, amazing dances👏. All the finalists were brilliant, a very close call. Layton and Nikita blew me away with their incredible performances, Bobby and Dianne’s couples dance was so emotional! What a series, you’re all amazing!

    Well done to the winner.But Leyton and Nikita are my winners. Just sublime seeing a gay man and a straight man working so well together, with respect and supreme talent. Well done to Bobby too, kid did good!

    Well, what a final! Each of the couples would have been a worthy winner; all showed determination, commitment and joy. Apart from dramatic dance improvement technically (including Layton), the couples expressed such beautiful stories through dance - often moving us, the audience, to tears in the process. I am always bereft when Strictly finishes. I call it ‘sparkle therapy’ but it is much more than that. As family entertainment the BBC is gently normalising difference in ways that many can accept. Those who cannot will perhaps always be resistant. The BBC deserves huge praise for this wonderful show and the amazing people who bring it together. Congratulations to all!!

    FAB-U-LOUS. What a final, nine amazing dances, the pro dancers, all the contestants back for one last dance, Dave Arch and his band, the singers, Cher and Tess and Claudia holding it all together. Huge congratulations to all the back stage people who make the show possible each and every week as well. Our favourites won tonight, but all three were very worthy finalists. Will miss Strictly so until next year, Strictly Merry Christmas everyone and a very Happy New Year.

    T'was grand, well done Ellie an Vito, her AS and Paso were super.
    I thought Layton and Nikita were incredible and Bobby a credit to hard work and his support from Diane.

    Really enjoyed last night and In my mind there were two winners , Ellie deservedly won the dance competition ,she had my votes and was absolutely brilliant in the show dance , but Amy won the bravery award for the series what a courageous young lady , all my thoughts are with her and hopes for a full recovery

    I voted for Bobby. Most improved on the night imo and more emotion and joy in his dancing but not unhappy with the result. Good luck to all of them.

    Mostly lovely comments about the winner and lovely comments about the other finalists. A few mean comments which just aren’t warranted or needed . Last night was a spectacular show with three couples who put everything into entertaining the public. I personally feel like they did just that . I enjoyed every dance . Also seeing Amy who’s such a brave lady . Her appearance made me emotional as I have lost two sisters to the horrible cancer . Very emotional show but I felt it was absolutely joyful.
    Hope everyone has the Christmas 🤶 they want and god willing will be back chatting all things strictly next year 🤶❤️

      I think it was one of the best Strictly final I’ve seen. My favourite didn’t win the glitter ball but they all won our hearts in the end! From the opening dance, with brave, inspirational Amy, to the closing titles I had smiles and tears! Well done, everyone!

    Everything everyone. What a fabulous show. All 3 couples were exceptional, as were the rest of this years contestants in their group dance. Just brilliant from start to finish, and I could even hear Cher.👂 Layton and Nikita were really in their element and were obviously having the time of their lives. Was upset that Ellie and Vito didn’t quite make the last lift in their Showdance, but wow - that was difficult from beginning to end and so impressive. They thoroughly deserved their win. 🪩
    The only sour note was some of the comments on here; I didn’t read many posts as I could see that there were some who couldn’t just couldn’t refrain from making nasty remarks even after the show was over
