Our couples are gearing up for Week Eight, and with Blackpool just one week away, they're going to give everything they’ve got, to snag their place in the Tower Ballroom! Let’s get into the routines they'll be performing in the battle for Blackpool...

    Well done Katya, playing to Nigel's strengths should produce something special. Nice to see Ian Waite back on the dance floor and looking as good as ever. IMO he was "let go" too soon. Strictly's loss is Oz's gain.

    I'm on a roll here with my musings 😆😆

    I bet Layton is grateful to Angela, ( not really, meant as tongue in cheek) she is getting the brunt of abuse this week and he has been given a brief respite .

    Wasn't it nice of Adam to be so complementary about Angela last night....not a hint of bitterness.

    Just scrolled through the blog and see there are lots of posts saying Angela S and the waltz will be a non event. She is not exactly a favourite of mind but she isn't a bad dancer and a waltz, beautifully performed can be magical. Of course the right music, tails and a stunning dress can elevate it further, well we can but hope

    Matt Baker is one of the best Male Celebs to have been on SCD How he didn't get 40 for that Tango is beyond belief when you see some of the Dances in the last few Seasons that get 40!!!!!! I was so disappointed when he and Aliona didn't win (which for me they should have Won). Aliona is one of the Best Dancers SCD has had, with Flavia and Jowita .
    Never really took to Atem and Kara.

    I saw someone make a lovely comment about Ellie today and they said “dancing just agrees with her body” and it’s such a true statement. She’s just pure talent and so unaffected by the whole process. She just gets on with it and tries her best.

    Thought it was interesting to hear Katya talk about the emotions she feels; we tend to focus on how the celebs feel & forget that although the pros are doing their job they must be heavily invested in the success of their partnership.

    Looking forward to the performances from Layton, Ellie and Nigel, should be fantastic. Hopefully great choreography and celebs with ability will ensure a enjoyable watch.
    The Angela’s should be OK.
    Annabel and Krishnan might struggle with samba’s , difficult dance.
    Liking Nigel more and more as the competition continues.

    I have always found the Pro dance on Rememberance Sunday, to be wonderful and moving for many reasons.
    Hopefully this Sunday will not disappoint.

    What a great ITT with both the input from the choroegrapher + lighting engineer. This is the sort of extras which I so enjoy watching, as it gives an extra dimension as to why SCD is such a special Saturday Night Extravaganza.
    As I have said many a time - these are the unsung heroes - who make the show we all know and love, actually happen in the best way.

    Lovely Nigel . No drama no back story ,no dead goldfish , just quietly learning how to dance . My 5 p is still bet on him in the final

    I enjoyed last night’s ITT.
    Nigel and Katya’s chat was interesting, despite the nonsense with a bowl of sweets.
    Did anyone else hear Katya’s comment that Nigel “needs to pay attention?”
    So he doesn’t always pay attention to what she says?
    Hearing their live show feedback, I had wondered previously if Nigel had danced better in dress rehearsals some weeks, or if the judges’ critical remarks were partly born of frustration that Nigel “should” perform better.
    Nigel is an experienced dancer, even if dancing on cruise ships was a different ball game.
    I hope the Couple’s Choice really engages him, that he does pay attention, and that he and Katya deliver something very good indeed.

    Interesting to see the dynamic between Nigel and Katya tonight - Nigel very still, calm, relaxed, confident and funny, Katya a bit frantic, waving her arms about and making most of the noise. Her taking ages to explain the dance, him summing it up succinctly with wry amusement. If they can bring that electricity on to the dance floor on Saturday, we'll be in for a treat. Funny how Fleur looked a bit flustered too, he really does have a wicked way about him.

    Angela and Kai also sparked interest, he seems a bit less in awe and more in partnership with her now. Loved her top, she always looks so elegant and beautifully coiffed - something some of the younger ladies could learn from.

    Genuine question...how important do you think the relationship between the couple...actual or perceived is in the GBP voting choice.
    I ask this, because I think Nigel and Katya for example have a wonderful easy relationship, likewise Ellie and Vito, Bobby and Dianne, Nikita and Layton.
    With Annabel and Johannes it's an obvious respectful and caring partnership, Krishnan and Lauren, I'm not sure, although I like them both enormously. Angela and Kai, respectful. The other one I can't figure is Angela and Carlos...I love Angela, have watched her presenting other shows, she is full on and quirky and I like that. I don't really have an inkling about Carlos.
    Just curious 🤔

      Carlos and Molly last year, were a good couple making it to the final.
      He seems a lovely guy, as seen in the results show, when talking about one of Angela's children giving him a big hug.
      We only see him on camera, so he might be very different elsewhere.

    I’m a bit of an odd person, I’ve been known to vote according to how a dance makes me feel. It might not be technically correct, they might not even be very good but if it makes me feel something I will give them a vote. An example is when AJ and Molly danced rhumba to “Hopelessly Devoted “ I felt like I was 17 again. I haven’t experienced this so far this series but I have high hopes now we are getting into the competition.

    Note to self, Do not mention Rememberance Sunday and the SCD pro dance done on that day, again.
    Sadly others do not appreciate this dance as much as others do, but that is fine, as all have their own opinions and can express these accordingly.
    Remember though, that some here will have lost loved ones in a number of many differing types of acts of conflict.
    SCD always marks this event in a lovely way. 🌹

    Looking forward to Ellie , True Colours is a Good choice for a rumba and she seems to have some real talent as a dancer . Annabel and Johannes might surprise people this week after last week's beautiful CC.

    Before my strictly hat slips off - I loved how Katya described the Couples Choice - as it is to suit the partnership and focus on strengths of the celeb. in the best way possible. This was to me a great description.
    Nigel + Katya doing a Hollywood Movie style dance sounds lovely.
