Yes the shorts made an appearance, no, no one complained. The are rather stylish I think but will not be worn to work as this is morally wrong. Only those in gardening and swimming pool maintenance can wear actual shorts in an actual workplace. And footballers. And beach patrol life guards. And posties but no one else.
Anyway lawn was cut, swifts were spotted, rosé was chilled. Looks a whole lot cooler this week which is a good thing if you need to WORK. Or REVISE or anything serious and you don’t need the distraction of people in shorts thank you very much.
Time to kick back with the latest Radio 2 Book Club selection which is Schtum by Jem Lester. Three generations of men are living together. Ben, his autistic son Jonah and Ben’s elderly father Georg are all trying to get along but two of them won’t talk and the other one can’t. It’s an intense, moving, funny and rather brilliant story which will you will be recommending like there’s no tomorrow. Jem from 6.
PLUS songs for STARGAZERS as THE TRANSIT OF MERCURY happens today. Starts at 12.12pm and finishes at 7.40 an only happens 13 times a century. You can watch it on line or with proper solar filters on your telescope (which you don’t have, so find someone who has). It’s just a small black dot moving across the face of the sun but still rather thrilling.
