Morning toppermost bloggers. Another week of loveliness lined up for you (I'm not even kidding, as child 2 would say). Hope the weekend was good; we had the return of child 1 after the completion of his higher education (results not yet in). So this is a strange one. Having got used to the absence and then return of child 2, now we adjust to the return of long term absentee child 1. A lot of shuffling around will be needed, a lot of re-balancing, a lot of clearing up the bathroom (child 2-that's you). The whole empty nest thing seems a long way away off! And very fortunate we are too (recovered well I thought). Child 3's plans to colonise a bigger bedroom temporarily on hold.
And today it s a Bookclub day and Jonathan Dee's A Thousand Pardons' is our selection. We follow the disintegration of a family-Ben, Helen and daughter Sara-and the reinvention of their lives. The title is, amongst a reference to Helen's PR advice which is always to say sorry and really really mean it (unlike, Dee would say, the recent efforts from Lance Armstrong). It s a top read, and Dee is a brilliant writer. Check out a chapter now! It's free!
And let's do songs for JUSTIN ROSE WINNING THE US OPEN as a Brit hasn't won since Tony Jacklin's day. Everyone says what a smashing bloke he is and dedicating his win to his late father on Fathers Day will have touched many.
So that's that and we're ready to go. Have a motivated and finely-honed Monday
