And we're off..



Monday dawned frosty but those few extra degrees will be welcome as Spring tries to make itself felt. Everyone is so desperate to wear that thinner sweater/jacket/blouse that you can see folk shivering on the walk to the shops, just to make a statement. Double digit temps are nearly here!



Thanks for all the best wishes for child 2 as she embarks on her gap year travels. Electronic communication of assorted varieties is brilliant at making her seem just around the corner. I emailed news of Spurs historic win over Arsenal, only to be told she'd been watching live on Costa Rican breakfast tv. I haven't thanked her yet for her message written on the shower room mirror which reappears after every steam-filled ablution but one thing at a time...



To Drivetime action then and the mighty Delia Smith is with us today. I love Delia. We all love Delia. We trust Delia, we'd like to be like her. Ramsey is good, Jamie is cool. Heston is a master. But Delia was there first and that's why she is still the boss (do I add IMHO here?). Her book on cakes is just a feast. Here's a few to get you going: Sticky Toffee Loaf Cake with Fudge Icing, Dirty Jamaican Gingerbread, Double Lemon Drizzle cake with Poppy Seeds and finally...Chocolate Souffle Cake with Armagnac Prunes and Creme Fraiche Sauce. Wow. I've put on pounds just writing the words down. And on top of that CAKES can do for our oldies today please. Not good for those on a Lenten diet but hey...
