Feels like it should be Thursday but, on checking, realise that it is indeed only Wednesday. Cloudy and muggy here with a hint of autumn…
Spent a lot of yesterday a studio with the wonderful Bill Nighy recording a show for the next bank holiday. You might remember him on the show a couple of years back talking about losing his vinyl collection in a flood. Well yesterday he got some of it back. He LOVES Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, John Lee Hooker, the Stones etc and so the show is full of Bill marvelling at gatefold sleeves, labels and grooves. And he is very funny. It’ll be a top 2 hours.
Today we welcome Paul Young back to the show with his first new album in 20 years. I think he and Bill Nighy would get on famously- the record is full of old Stax and soul songs. All produced by Arthur Baker so don’t miss Paul Young tonight. The album is called Good Thing and so we will do songs full of GOOD THINGS. It’ll be a bit like a new 'Favourite Things' from Sound of Music!
