Joan Bakewell

Joan Bakewell has been a presence on Britain’s television since the 1960s when she co-presented the nightly BBC 2 show Late Night Line Up.

In the 1970’s she went to Granada television, and pioneered the interactive audience programme Reports Action.
In the late 1980s she became reporter/presenter of BBC 1’s The Heart of the Matter, which dealt with ethical issues arising from current affairs. Since 2000 she has presented two personal series of her own: My Generation, and Taboo.

Her books include “The Centre of the Bed” (autobiography), “Belief”, and “The View From Here: Life at Seventy”, published in September 2006.

She is currently the presenter of Belief for Radio 3 and a columnist for the Guardian.
