The relationship between Scarlett and Theresa was difficult right from the start. Theresa was very much the slightly older but very dominant sister. Young Theresa was quickly drawn towards bad boys and became very good at living a criminal life, stealing to order and making a good buck at it.
As well as a string of shoplifting offences, Theresa is also known to the police for her violent behaviour - if you cross her, she won't forget it. Theresa gave birth to Bob during her first spell in prison and Scarlett offered to look after him until she got out. But Theresa ended up being convicted of more crimes and her sentence was extended - she took the rap for a fraud which Molly committed. While her mother paid her well for this sacrifice, Theresa's never forgiven Molly. When she eventually was released and came to claim Bob, the little boy was very strongly attached to Scarlett. Seeing there was no place for her, Theresa was hurt to the core but forced herself to believe that life would be much better without a snotty-nosed kid hanging around her ankles. Despite her hard front Theresa is ultimately capable of being decent and courageous.
To escape the heartache, Theresa manufactured an enormous argument with Scarlett and walked away, leaving Bob with her. She has kept in touch with Molly, often returning to stay with her Mum each time she got out of prison.
In early May 2010 Theresa was released again, but this time she's penniless. She got in touch with her mum, but Molly doesn't want to know - she's got her own cushy number in Shieldinch and needs Theresa to stay away. But it doesn't take long for Theresa to turn up and decide to get to know her family again!
While Theresa can be gregarious, flirtatious and fun, she can quickly switch and become your worst nightmare. Deep down Theresa is looking for happiness, but doesn't know where to find it. Every time she has a chance she spoils it with her behaviour. Therese has always been secretly jealous of her sister, because Scarlett was always her own woman, escaping Molly's clutches to make a life for herself. When Theresa arrives in Shieldinch part of her wants to ruin the life Scarlett has and part of her wants to have the life her sister has. Theresa bullies Molly into submission and sets about tormenting Scarlett and Jimmy. Ultimately the key to Theresa's heart is wee Bob - but will she mellow?
