Scott Wallace

Scott Wallace is the perfect gay best friend and then some. He'd do anything for his pals as has been proven time and time again throughout his relationship with Ruth Rossi. Scott puts so much emphasis on friendship because that really is all he has.

Scott left home on the Isle of Lewis at the first chance he got. Scott knew he was gay and was nervous about coming out to his strictly Presbyterian family. When Scott's father did discover his sexuality he was unable to come to terms with it leaving Scott estranged from his family.

Scott's not been lucky when it comes to love. He had an ill fated fling with Ruth's bisexual lover, Stephen Adams. Scott's friendship with Ruth survived and continues to be his strongest in Shieldinch. After Stevie came closeted, married policeman, Eddie. Tragically, Eddie was murdered just as he had come to terms with his love for Scott and realised he was finally ready to commit. Scott and Eddie's ex-wife, Tina, supported one another through their grief and Scott was a real support to the family. Scott is convinced that Lenny Murdoch had something to do with Eddie's death.

When Scott's best friend, Ruth, declared she was finally pregnant Scott was delighted for her. Ruth and Scott made a parent pact and agreed to bring up the child together. Initially Scott was so blinded by the first flush of parenthood that he failed to see Ruth was suffering crippling post-natal depression. When Manu, Scott's jealous boyfriend alerted the real father, Marty, to the baby's existence Scott had to fight for his place in her life.

Scott went on an extended holiday to San Francisco and returned transformed by the experience. Scott is more relaxed and open to possibility. His new outlook was put to the test when his estranged father appeared in Glasgow for palliative care. Scott's mother appealed to her son to make peace before the old man died. Scott did and is glad his father passed with the knowledge the pair had made peace.

Scott's mum came to stay with him in Shieldinch and the two forged a closer bond. This led to mother and son taking a trip together to foreign climes. Scott has put his rucksack away for the meantime, and settled back in at the helm of Carly's Café.
