Eddie is dead, having been shot by Lenny Murdoch.
DCI Hunter arrested Jo and Ruth when Gina was injured. He never believed in Ruth's innocence, and felt that the two sisters had got the better of him. He was Harry's boss, and had run-ins with a few of the locals, including Alice and Mac. He received a commendation at work as a result of the siege at the Docks in which they set up Lenny.
Eddie got romantically involved with Scott but it was kept under wraps because nobody knew Eddie was gay. We soon found out why: Eddie was married with kids and devastated Scott with his lies. His affair tore his family apart and Scott eventually decided to stand by him. His wife Tina did her best in a bad situation but his sons Jamie and Paul struggled. Eddie, his family, and Scott were just starting to get on together when Eddie was brutally shot dead on his own doorstep. His murder is under investigation but his killer, Lenny, has got off scot-free. Even Eddie's colleague, Whiteside, was involved in the murder... ironic as he now claims to be investigating it.
