Smoochy?

Guys, pay attention - if you buy your missus gift vouchers for Christmas she will snog your brother, FACT. And this is exactly what happened in the Brodie house on Christmas Day. While Michael was off working, Angel Gabriel swooped in to help Leyla with the dinner. Gabriel seemed to be wrestling with his feelings for his sister-in-law all day but it was Leyla who eventually went in for a kiss! Poor Leyla has been feeling very neglected by Michael so when she realised that Gabe had got her a really thoughtful Christmas gift, she couldn't help giving him a little festive smooch in return. (What do you think she would of given him if he'd bought her a real car?!) The little smooch soon turned into a full on passionate snog and who knows what might of happened if Malcolm and Liz hadn't come home! Was it just a harmless kiss under the mistletoe or will Gabriel turn out to be for life, not just for Christmas?

There was much hilarity over at the Mullen's house, even with Lenny Murdoch at their Christmas table, they all had a right old knees up. I wonder if Molly has any plans to release a Christmas Hits album? I think I'd pay good money to hear her sing again!

There was further Festive joy for the Mullen's when wee Bubba got engaged! It was so sweet, Stella proposed under the Christmas tree just as the snow was falling. All very romantic! Let's hope Bob has better luck this time, I think this could be the fourth time he's been engaged! He'll be alright as long as he doesn't have his Stag do in Prague, we all know what happened the last time he went there - wee trip to the sexual health clinic, that's all I'm saying.

Deek got by with a little help from his friend's, managing to feed all the 'hungry, lonely' people and bag himself a new job in the process. Did anyone else notice how ever tactful Murray just referred to the community centre guests as 'lonely' right in front them?! It was nice how Robbie et al gave up their Christmas dinner so that Deek could save face. That's what I call Christmas spirit - and Iona had certainly had a lot of the 'spirit'.

Next Tuesday it's New Years Eve and as ever there will plenty of drama for Hogmanay! Eileen and Gina fall foul of some pesky mice, Gabriel and Leyla try to deal with their feeling after that kiss and Christina is distraught to find out that Big Bob isn't planning on coming home...

Since it's Christmas, I've treated you to some extra pictures for you to remember it by! And don't forget to let us know what you thought of this week's episode.

P.S. There will be no blog next week as since it's Christmas but I'll be back after New Year.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! I hope you all have a great time!

Quote of the Week

Scarlett when telling Stella how many places to set at the dinner table: "Let me see, there's youse two, me n Jimmy, Kelly-Marie, King Herod, Molly, Tattie, Christina and the weans."

I loved that she just threw that in there! King Herod, Lenny? I can see the similarities! This is also the quote of the whole series from our Script Editor Ciara Conway!

Frances

Fran is up to her old tricks and is attempting to use her eeeeeeeeeeevil kissing to further her plot for revenge. She and Lenny were locking lips an obscene amount of times in this episode - jeez, get a room! At one point, Fran the Kiss-A-Scam cleverly used her eeeeeeeevil kissing to pick pocket Lenny and made sure she was invited to his dinner with dodgy dealer Vince the Jeweller. As always, DI Donald was lurking in the shadows to encourage Fran to get some dirt on Lenny, I must admit, I am beginning to wonder if the people of Shieldinch are really paying attention - why is no one noticing Frances and DI Donald when they are in the middle of Montego Street talking?! DI(rty) Donald suddenly got a lot more interesting this week didn't he? He's not just a lean mean Lenny stalking machine, he is also a bit of a sleaze! While he was fitting Frances with her wire, he was ogling her and getting a bit hot under the collar - tut tut! I love the 'bow-chika-bow-waw' music that was playing over this scene! DI(rty) Donald managed to resist one of Fran's evil kisses this time, but I think he's got it bad, will he be able to keep his hands off her in future?

This week on the Antique's Roadshow, we'll be in Shieldinch where our guest expert Gabriel Brodie will be showing you how to restore an antique chair. Just kidding, no River City hasn't turned into an antique's show but we did see a lot of wood glue action. Gabriel accidentally pulled the arm off the antique chair Leyla bought Michael as a Christmas present which resulted in some very amusing chair related antics! Gabe even enlisted the help of Liz, who although she protested, really enjoyed all the clandestine activities! I particularly loved it when she attempted to stop Leyla seeing the absolutely HUGE chair by standing in front of it- very, very funny! However, after Leyla found out and shouted at him, Gabe realised that he had a very funny, fuzzy feeling inside - could he be falling for his brother's wife? Well, from the looks of the pictures in the press this week here and here, the answer is YES! I know it's wrong, but I love a bit of festive adultery!

Nicole and Stevie were extremely hormonal teenagers this week! Nicole decided that she was ready to lose her virginity but they just couldn't find any time alone so they settled on the romantic setting of the Health Centre for their 'first time'. Personally, I've always found doctor's surgeries very sexy: stethoscopes, syringes, sick bags and all those posters about incontinence. Unfortunately, Nicole didn't feel the same and told Stevie that she'd changed her mind, she wants her first time to special and romantic. Lovely Stevie told her that he was quite prepared to wait and didn't want to put any pressure on her - aaaw.

Next week, is Christmas Day in Shieldinch so make you tune in to see that kiss between Leyla and Gabriel and watch the fireworks at the Mullen's house when Grandpa Lenny pops round for Christmas dinner! Ooooh , I can't wait! And remember, if you miss it on Tuesday, this week's repeat will be on Christmas Eve - Saturday 24th December at 12.30pm on BBC One.
