Backstage Blog's Makeover

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Julie|15:06 UK time, Tuesday, 28 April 2009

The Backstage Blog has been given a fresh, new look! As you'll see, the page is now wider and easier to navigate. I hope you like it.

The changes are happening on all BBC blogs and the BBC Internet bods have already talked about this on their blog.

All you really need to know is that it looks prettier and we'll keep filling it with lots of good stuff for your entertainment!

A few of you have asked about tour tickets. Well, you'll be pleased to hear there are still a few tickets left if you fancy visiting Shieldinch! Most of the June ones have been snapped up but there are still some available for July.

You'll find everything you need to know in this earlier blog post.

Messageboard Closure

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Julie|18:20 UK time, Monday, 27 April 2009

The River City messageboard will be closing at 1400 on Friday, 15 May. We know this is going to disappoint a lot of you but we hope you understand why we've made this decision. Running the messageboard requires a lot of staff time, time we feel can be spent updating and creating new and exciting content for the website. Your input has been hugely valuable over the years and we have no wish to discourage that interaction. We do feel it's very important for the viewers and visitors to the website to have a say about the show.

Please note this does not affect the TV show, the River City website or this blog.

You can read the notice of closure in full on the messageboard. If you have any comments, please post them on the relevant thread on the board or using the comments field below. Please do not post comments about this under any other blog post. We appreciate your co-operation.

All the best,

River City Team

School Reunions

Julie|14:53 UK time, Wednesday, 22 April 2009

So, what did you think of last night's show? I felt so sorry for Ruth! It's about time she got some love in her life and that Andy seemed just lovely. I loved how the lies just kept escalating and the situation got crazier and crazier. Iona was brilliant too (but she always is).

Is this the end of the road for them? I like to think he'll come charging back on a white horse and make her dreams come true...

On a more realistic note, have you been to a shool reunion? Did you tell any little white lies? Or did you go all out and create a fictional life to get one up on your old schoolmates?

Raymond's Return

Julie|17:20 UK time, Tuesday, 21 April 2009

I know many of you are missing Raymond's presence in River City so you'll be pleased to know he'll be arriving back in Shieldinch on Tuesday, 12 May. The last time we saw him he had finally got back together with Shona and the pair had taken off to the country. So, what next for Raymondo? Does he come back alone? Have we seen the last of the evil Sharon? What do you think? Do tell!

Brochan Lom

A few weeks ago I teased you, rather cruelly, with a photo from a new set. Well, I can now reveal that it's a bistro called Brochan Lom (that's gaelic for weak porridge). It's just outside Shieldinch and it provides a nice place for our residents to go without the close scrutiny of their neighbours...

You'll see its debut on screen tomorrow night. In the meantime, here are a few photos.

New Actress!

Julie|15:12 UK time, Friday, 17 April 2009

A brand new actress is on set today! She's new to showbusiness and this is her first ever performance in front of a camera. She's quiet, very attractive and has done everything expected of her. Oh, and she's brown and furry.

I'm going to leave you with that tease for a while until I can tell you more. Just know this: I'm very tempted to take her home.

Julie|17:00 UK time, Wednesday, 8 April 2009

Tony Kearney (aka Scott) is hosting an evening of entertainment in Glasgow this Sunday, 12 April. Eileen McCallum (Liz), Johnny Beattie (Malcolm), Julie Duncanson (Shona) and Libby McArthur (Gina) will also be performing 'turns', alongside stars of stage, screen and music. You can find out all about it on the Tartan Turns website.

RaW

Julie|18:23 UK time, Tuesday, 7 April 2009

River City hooked up with the BBC's RaW campaign to highlight Bob's financial struggles. If you have any money worries, then visit the RAW website for great tips about how to cope with the credit crunch.

The Sunday Mail did an article relating to the storyline that you can read on their website; you'll find financial Q&A on the BBC News website, and Bob gets a mention on Fergus Muirhead's blog.

Technical Problems

Julie|17:38 UK time, Thursday, 2 April 2009

Some of you have mentioned you've been unable to comment on the blog so please be aware that we're looking into this for you and will let you know more soon.

There are also a few technical gremlins interfering with your enjoyment of River City on the iPlayer this week. Some clever people are working hard to stop those gremlins so I hope you'll be able to watch the show soon. In the meantime, please try using the 'high quality' version of the iPlayer (it should appear as an option underneath the main video window) because that seems to be working normally.

Familiar Faces

Blog comments are currently unavailable. Find out more.

Julie|17:28 UK time, Thursday, 2 April 2009

A few familiar faces will be in Glasgow for a charity event this Sunday, 5 April. Joyce Falconer (Roisin) will be hosting; Claire Knight (Iona), Sarah McCardie (Sharon) and Cora Bissett (Yvonne) are among the performers. Find out more on the Òran Mór website.
