Stephen Purdon Talks Cooking

Julie|17:51 UK time, Thursday, 15 November 2007

We caught up with Stephen Purdon (aka Bob) on the eve of his Celebrity Chef Challenge to find out what treats he'll be serving viewers for Children In Need.

So, Stephen, what's your best dish?

Number 49 on the chinese menu! I can't cook, I'm terrible. My girlfriend, Nicola, does all the cooking - I can only cook things from a supermarket packet and stick it in the oven. Nicola thinks it's hilarious that I'm doing this - she's hoping for positive things out of it!

How did you get involved?

We're so busy filming that we couldn't all get involved this year so we got a memo asking if anyone had special skills or anything they'd like to do for Children In Need. Me and Gordon (Deek) were having a laugh with our Production Coordinator and I said we could go on as Ant & Dec. Gordon was telling me to shut up! Then Anne came back and asked if I'd be up for this. It's for a good cause! It's going to be out of the ordinary, something I wouldn't normally do. It'll be a laugh. I've heard good things about Nick Nairn. We'll see how his patience holds...

What do the rest of the cast think?

They're slagging me off! Paul Samson (Raymond), Julie Duncanson (Shona) and Libby McArthur (Gina) are coming along so I think I'll need to book them holidays from work 'cos they'll all have food poisoning. I'll be in trouble for messing up all the schedules!

How do you think Bob would get on?

Pretty much the same as myself! June (Charlie) and I were actually filming a scene yesterday where there was a bit of an argument about Bob not being able to cook. It's a strange coincidence!

Maybe Bob could go on from this and get a job in The Grill?

You never know! Bob in his pinny could cook up a storm!

Stephen is being filmed in the kitchen all day tomorrow and you'll be able to see him and his fellow chefs on Children In Need from 7.30pm on BBC ONE Scotland on Friday 16th November.
