Daniel Schutzmann (aka Marty Green) and Michael Nardone (the nasty DCI Whiteside) are to leave River City.
Daniel has been a great asset to River City over the past two years and he has all our best wishes for the future. Marty is about to be involved in a very strong storyline which will lead to his departure in March 2008.
Daniel says, "I've decided to move on because the reason I became an actor was to play lots of different roles. I've been lucky to have had the great opportunity to live in Scotland and to be in River City, where I've learned so much. I've met lots of amazing people, and hope I will work with some of them again in the future."
Meanwhile, Michael is leaving to go on tour with Black Watch. He'll film with us until the 21st December and will be seen on screen until April. We're not saying a thing about DCI Whiteside's exit storyline so you'll just have to stay tuned to find out.
The current issue of No.1 magazine has an eight-page fashion special with six of your River City favourites as you've never seen them before. Here's a sneaky peek at Daniel (Marty) and Jenni (Heather) all glammed up.
Both Jenny Ryan (Tina) and Carmen Pieraccini (Kelly-Marie) star in a new sitcom 'Dear Green Place', which you can see on BBC ONE Scotland tonight at 10.35pm.

For those who missed it yesterday, The Sun speculated that Rod Stewart would be making a cameo appearance in River City at Christmas, and used some very funny mocked-up photos of some scenarios he could find himself in. They've kindly allowed us to show one of their pics here.
We have to say that we'd be delighted if Rod wanted to join us for an episode - the festive season has a lot of massive surprises in store and we reckon there'd be no bigger treat than having Scotland's best loved rock star as a first footer!
This is the new face of Jo Rossi! As you know, Jo ran off with Luca in January but she'll be appearing in the show again soon. Unfortunately, Allison McKenzie (who played Jo) has other projects on the go and decided she can't commit to River City for the long term so new actress Lisa Gardner is going to take over the role. We're all delighted to welcome her.
Jo will be returning to the show around Christmas and the River City Producers promise there is much more to be done with the character, especially surrounding her relationship with her sister, Ruth.
In other news, Lisa can be heard in 'Freefalling' on Radio Scotland this Friday. It's a comedy show, which also stars Julie Coombe (Terri) and Paul Samson (Raymond), and you can hear it from 11.30am, or listen again for a whole week after transmission.
