Boutique Competition Winner

Julie|18:35 UK time, Thursday, 9 August 2007

The boutique competition has now been judged and a winner chosen! Here's the big announcement and a statement from the River City Editorial Team:

"It gives us great pleasure to announce the winning entry as Hola, as suggested by Lesley Milton from Airdrie. We had over 500 entries and we would like to thank everyone who took part.

Choosing a winner has been a difficult job. There were many very good entries, it was great fun going through them all and some really made us giggle! We were impressed by the high standard and fascinated to see how many of you went with a Spanish theme. In the end, we narrowed it down to our favourites – what we thought Lydia might choose herself. We then had to put those suggestions through a process called negative checking. This is done to every name we use on River City. It is a legal requirement, we have to make sure that the names we use along with the details of the character, product or business aren’t too similar to any in real life.

Congratulations to Lesley and thank you to everyone who took part. Keep watching River City and look out for the grand opening of Hola."

You can see Lydia for the first time on Friday 17th August, and we'll let you know when Hola will be revealed on screen!
