Hello and welcome to a new strand in the Radio 3/BBC Performing Groups Blog.

Over the next few months we’ll be bringing you regular updates on what the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers and BBC Symphony Chorus are up to in their home at Maida Vale Studios, and out and about at the Barbican, St Paul’s Knightsbridge and beyond!

We’ve got some exciting projects coming up that we’d like to share with you, including preparations for the BBC SO’s performance of Ravel’s opera L’Enfant et les Sortilèges in a specially created digital concert version on 26 April performed with music from Poulenc’s ballet Les animaux modeles with readings by Stephen Mangan, the BBC Singers rehearsing for concerts in St Paul’s Knightsbridge and elsewhere and the massed forces of the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus rehearsing with John Wilson for a concert of English music at the Barbican on 3 May.

We’ll also be bringing you updates on some great learning projects with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers, involving amateur singers, families and young people from across London. You’ll be hearing from different voices in the BBC SO and Singers and there’ll be the chance to watch short interviews with conductors and soloists and behind-the scenes film of us in action in rehearsal and more…

Do join us over the next months as we give you an insight into the busy daily lives of the BBC SO and Singers!

Happy reading and watching!
