Back in November the BBC Concert Orchestra performed a Stephen Sondheim celebration at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, which will be broadcast at 2pm in Friday’s Afternoon on 3 (20 Dec). Sondheim: Inside Out explores the man and his music, delving deeper into the life and works of one of the world’s greatest musical theatre writers, with Turlough Convery, Kim Criswell, Maria Friedman, Laura Michelle Kelly, Michael Xavier and the Maida Vale Singers.

During the rehearsals we caught up with show director Jonathan Butterell, conductor Keith Lockhart and two of the singing stars Turlough Convery and Kim Criswell and asked them what they love about Sondheim and what to listen out for at the concert.
