Take your dad

Red 2 - not as good as the first, not enough comedy but decent action. Stellar cast though, Anthony Hopkins is a don! Nice cameos too. 3*

Take a friend who either loves Ryan Gosling and doesn't care about the film or a friend who loves gruesome disemboweling and doesn't care about Ryan Gosling

Only God Forgives- Stop trying to make arty films, it looks pretentious. Extremely violent and Gosling needs loads more lines/action. 2*

Take the bravest person you know

The Conjuring - Paranormal jump fest. Supposedly true story about a demon with family issues. High on scares. Too long, too convoluted. 2*

Go with the girls 

The Heat- decent female buddy comedy from director of Bridesmaids, Sandra Bullock-consistently funny, Melissa McCarthy-mix it up please! 3*
