Two views of Take Two
Tommy and Rahima
Tommy
Hi, my name is Tommy. I have been lucky enough to take part in the Take Two project. Me and my friends were mentored by the BBC’s finest. I had a blast with this program; we were even allowed to have some fun with the blue screen and made mini movies. My mentor helped me with all sorts, from homework to computers. This has been an awesome experience and I recommend it to any one my age and hope they have just as much fun as me and my friends did.
Rahima
Hi my name is Rahima.I am 13 years old and I go to school in west London.I was very fortunate to participate in the Take Two project.Through this I was given the opportunity to be mentored by a member of the BBC.My mentor Caroline has helped me with many aspects of my life, from an educational and personal perspective.
Caroline has helped me realise my full potential and I can achieve my future goals if I work hard. She has also helped me get an interview at a hairdressers and I got the job.I just want to thank Caroline for everything she has done for me, I truly am thankful for all the effort and time she has put in for me.I wish this project could have gone longer than a year.
*BBC Outreach is a key partner of the Take Two project, which works with a number of young people in west London and Salford. The project, which is funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, helps young people to develop communication skills and increase employability, aspiration and confidence.BBC staff are business mentors to students on the project, and we run regular media skills projects focused on increasing confidence and communications.By spending time with BBC staff and in BBC offices, it is hoped that the students will increase their understanding of working life and the business environment.
