Ouch

Individual blog entry

A warm welcome...

... to the crip blogosphere to Jemma at Diary of a Monkey.

Jemma says she has been inspired to "properly blog" by the Ouch bloggers. She says, "If they can do it, so can I". And she's not kidding: this girl really can blog. Check out her post about being asked to remove her hat in pubs.

I am thrilled to bits that I've been part of a team of writers who have helped to bring forth a new disabled blogger. I couldn't be more pleased.

But is Jemma* the only one? Or are there more of you out there? If you're disabled, and you've started a blog up as a direct result of reading the work of the Ouch guest bloggers, Crippled Monkey wants to hear from you. Drop him a line at [email protected].

*That'll be the Jemma who is now hugely embarrassed that I've publicised her blog on Ouch, then. Sorry, Jemma. The monkey made me do it. Honest.

Yay, we inspired someone! And not in the patronizing, ablist sense of the word.

I'm afraid to say I was inspired to blog by a professional dominatrix. Such is me.

Blimy I thought my blogging was rubbish and that no one was reading guess I was wrong.

Its ok lady Bracknell im not embaressed its quite cool to see myself randomly on the ouch website

yay! my life is forfilled!

Anyone can blog. I do it, often badly, and really recommend it as a great way to get to know other people in more depth than on messageboards or MySpace, Facebook, YouTube and all the other things I won't go near. Fast pace 'really out there' interaction scares me stupid. Blogging, for me, is more gentle and you can take your time.

Jemma's not the only one, no. For various reasons, I've been reading disability blogs for the past year or so, without having one of my own despite my love of words and writing.

Being of an agoraphobic persuasion, and well, frankly, not getting out much, I never thought that I'd have anything noteworthy to blog about; it's only recently that it's occurred to me that actually, yes, maybe I just might have something to say, that my experiences may be interesting and/or useful to others. Seeing so many folks doing it here has inspired me to put pen to paper, or more accurately, font to screen. It's also given me something to focus on during what appears to be an irritatingly bad downturn.

At the time of writing, I'm just starting out, with a mere three or four posts to my name. There are days when my mind doesn't seem to be working well enough to write anything coherant (and today seems to be one of them, judging by the mishmash that is this response!) but I hope it'll snowball and turn into something at least vaguely interesting for people to read.

Miss Vertigo,

Weclome to the blogosphere :-)

Please leave us a link to your tiny new baby blog so that we can pay it a visit now before it turns into a stroppy adolescent blog and doesn't want to talk to us any more.

I too am thrilled that others are starting to blog. Blogging has made a real difference in my life and given me a renewed sense of community. I join in the welcome.

Thanks, Lady B's Editor :)

I shall pull up a wing-backed armchair, warm my slippers, but possibly stop short of smoking a pipe.

A link should now be behind my posting name, assumning I've done this correctly...
