We know many of you aren’t interested in The BRIT Awards (although we’re also sure loads of you probably passively watched it), BUT, in case you missed it, the big talking point was how the Ladies™ totally ruled the show.

Adele cleaned up. Lorde did a sterling and Duncan Jones-approved Bowie tribute. Annie Lennox didn’t have to sing a note and she still received a standing ovation. Bjork – perhaps unexpectedly – won Best International Female. And even die-hard indie fans must admit that Little Mix killed it. Yep, women ruled The BRITS, and we loved it.

This week’s other big social media music news was the outpouring of female-led online support received by American pop/rap star Ke$ha after a judge ruled her record label should not release her, despite allegations of sexual assault committed by her producer and former mentor.

Adele, Lily Allen, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Lorde and Fiona Apple all showed solidarity on Twitter via the hashtag #FreeKesha, and Taylor Swift donated $250,000 to help Kesha’s legal fund. Not surprising as Taylor Swift once told Vanity Fair, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women”.

We also want some ‘galentine’ examples please, such as Civil Wars’ Hayley Williams and Paramore’s Joy Williams, St Vincent hearting David Byrne, Lorde & Taylor Swift, Erykah Badu & Janelle Monae, and Lil’ Kim & Missy Elliott.
