With the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow kicking off this week, we’re inviting you to create a playlist celebrating the city’s rich music heritage (Sunday 27 July, 6-8pm).

Twitter was abuzz with comments from those watching the opening ceremony on Wednesday night (23 July) which featured live performances from artists such as Rod Stewart (who has Scottish ancestry) to Glaswegian band and 6 Music favourites Primal Scream.
Sir Chris Hoy tweeted: “What an atmosphere!! Just Amazing!” Plus there were the inevitable music requests such as “BIFFY CLYRO AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY PLEASE #glasgow2014” and “I hope Simple Minds, Franz Ferdinand and Paolo Nutini all perform in the opening ceremony cause they're all great bands and from Glasgow!”
This Sunday we want to celebrate the rich musical heritage of this city. So on that note what bands or musicians past and present would you liked to have seen perform? You could pick:
- Bands like Mogwai, Camera Obscura, Chvrches, Primal Scream and Simple Minds?
- Solo artists like Donovan, Bert Jansch, Edwyn Collins or even Billy Connelly….?
- Those that have performed at the legendary Glaswegian music venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut like Radiohead, Pulp, Beck and Oasis?
- Those signed to The Delgados’ Glasgow-based label Chemikal Underground like Arab Strap, and The Phantom Band, for example?
…or any other interesting connection you can surprise us with.
In addition to using the hashtag #GlasgowMusic on Twitter, song suggestions and comments are invited via the 6 Music and Now Playing Facebook pages, drag tracks onto our collaborative playlists on Spotify and Rdio, plus email NowPlayingSixMusic@bbc.co.uk and or text during the live show.
