#Mishaps6Music – Help us compile the ultimate gig grievance playlist

Dan Cocker

Producer

It’s been an eventful fortnight for on-stage misadventures. St Vincent – real name Annie Clark – took a tumble off a speaker stack in Nashville last Sunday night and later tweeted that venue staff “likely saved her life”.

Poor old Enrique Iglesias ended-up regretting trying to catch a drone camera at a show in Tijuana, Mexico, after it’s rotor blades sliced his fingers. He can be your hero again when he’s healed.

And a couple of weeks ago U2’s The Edge was so lost in the band’s performance of classic ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ that he wandered off stage in Vancouver and dropped like a sack of potatoes. “The Edge falls off the edge” – it was a gift for the internet.

So this week’s playlist is dedicated to anyone who goes that extra mile and gives their head, shoulders, knees and toes for the sake of rock n’ roll. Artists who absorbed the blows and soldiered on (Florence, we’re looking at you), singers who took one for the team (Madonna! You haven’t untied the…….never mind), and indeed anyone who rocked so hard they ended up in A&E.

Of course it’s not just artists who get injured at shows – it’s audiences too. Tom Robinson wants to know when you’ve suffered for your gig-going experience, including examples of swollen feet, dehydration, boots in the head, tinnitus and extreme hangovers.

Whatever your calamitous concert moment, Tom Robinson wants to know the story behind it and needs YOU to suggest an appropriate artist & track to accompany it.

You pick the music, so get your injury-inspired suggestions to Tom via the hashtag #Mishaps6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.
