#BBCProms - Help pick the Ultimate Alternative Orchestral Playlist
Will Gilgrass

Two stations with very different outlooks but a common love of music are coming to together next week as BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 3 combine for the first ever 6 Music Prom.
Presented by Steve Lamacq and Tom Service, Laura Marling, Cerys Matthews and The Stranglers will perform alongside the London Sinfonietta on Monday, August 12 at The Royal Albert Hall.
But we thought at Now Playing this isn’t the first time sections of the orchestra have come together with the musicians we normally represent on the station, and wondered what you’d come up with if we asked you to create the Ultimate Alternative Orchestral Playlist.

If William Orbit is your cup of tea and you think his work must be included in the Ultimate Alterantive Orchestral Playlist - then listen again to his interview with Mark Radcliffe.

So, we want your thoughts on what we could include – which could be:
- Artists who have used sections of the orchestra in their tracks, such as The Verve’sBittersweet Symphony, The Beatles All You Need is Love or Blur’s The Universal
- Acts who have performed with strings like Elbow or perhaps the Arctic Monkeys from Glastonbury earlier this summer
- How about people who famously have classical music training
- People who have tried their hand at classical music – Freddie Mercury anyone?
- Or how about classical music which has been remixed for the dancefloor – like Soulwax’s take on A Fifth of Beethoven or William Orbit'sAdagio For Strings?
If William Orbit is your cup of tea and you think his work must be included in the Ultimate Alterantive Orchestral Playlist - then listen again to his interview with Mark Radcliffe.
Ahead of the 6 Music Prom, producer and composer William Orbit talks to Mark.
