#Bowie6Music - Help pick the Ultimate David Bowie Playlist

Will Gilgrass

The moment which shocked the music world in 2013 was the return of David Bowie. Without any prior notice, Where Are We Now appeared online with the announcement of The Next Day his 26th studio album.

All this week and over Easter Weekend we at 6 Music are celebrating The Thin White Duke, his music, his influence, his legend. Adam Buxton is giving his guide to Bowie in the way only he can, Cerys has checked out the Bowie exhibition at the V&A before it opens, and the Live Music Hour will play his 1971 Paris Theatre In Concert set but on Sunday afternoon we want to give you the opportunity to get involved and pick tracks for the Ultimate David Bowie Playlist.

There’s an absolute plethora of Bowie’s own tracks which you could pick for this show, but we want you to look beyond this and choose bits from the wider Bowie musical picture – be that bands he has influenced, people he admired, his contemporaries and some of the other great showmen.

You could go for:

• Your favourite Bowie hits, b-sides, album tracks and rarities

• People who have covered his songs from Nirvana to TV on the Radio, Dinosaur Jr, Blondie and many others

• Other tracks produced by Tony Visconti, Nile Rodgers and others who have worked on Bowie records

• Artists who inspired him like Scott Walker, Chuck Berry and Little Richard

• People who wouldn’t have sounded like they did if it wasn’t for him – Matt Bellamy, Brett Anderson or Robert Smith for starters

• Plus there’s always William Shatner and Flights of the Conchords

You choose the music so let us know whay you want us to play by commenting on Facebook or here on the blog, Tweet #Bowie6Music email us at nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or add a track onto our collaborative Spotify playlist.
