#CloseEncounters6Music – What’s your shoulder-rubbing story?

Dan Cocker

Producer

This week, a remote Scottish hotel praised the respect and good manners shown by a recent surprise high-profile visitor. Kanye West was described as the "perfect guest" by the owners of a country hotel on the Isle of Skye in which he recently stayed while shooting a video.

So that got us thinking, this week we want to hear about YOUR close encounters with a famous musician.

They may be unexpected happenstances, like when this writer was 13 years old and on holiday in Florida (it was a newspaper offer, we weren’t made of money), and at Disney’s EPCOT in Florida I literally bumped into Joe Elliot from Def Leppard and spilled his drink. True story. Ask him*.

Or there was that other time when I first moved to London and Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood was on the same tube carriage as me, so I stayed on an extra two stops to see where he got off (it was Kentish Town, and I’m not a stalker, fyi).

So this Sunday Tom Robinson wants your shoulder-rubbing stories of briefly sharing the same air as artists – whether they are tales of seeing bands in unexpected places, mind blowing moments you’ll never forget when loitering at the stage door, nuggets of personal rock n’ roll folklore, or that time when your mum suddenly chirps up and says “I snogged Ringo Starr before he was in The Beatles” and you’re like “Whhaaa?” and she’s like “Uh-huh” and you’re all “Naaaaaaa?” and she goes “Waaayy!”.

You get the idea – tell us when you bumped into a famous musician and we’ll play a song for you.

You pick the music, so get your musician meeting-inspired suggestions to Tom via the hashtag #CloseEncounters6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify playlist.
