I think it delivers completely to fans of the show, but can see problems with it delivering to a new audience because it hasn't upped the gore/horror/torture porn content to compete with other recent releases. I don't think it has to. Also comments that it's just like an extended episode are fatuous because the x-files set the bar high for cinematic tv episodes delivering quality script and production values week in week out for 9 seasons. Yes Mark, even the seasons after the first movie were worth watching; you've misssed alot of character development and sound uncharacteristically like a misled 'fanboy'?

I'm assuming you are reporting in from vacation, thanks for that, it takes some of the pain out of having to suffer Mr. Accent and Mr. "some woman said she sang so i'm never going to see mamma mia" *g*

They couldn't wait forever! Besides, there will always be something happening to interfere with their relationship in some way and they will have to choose between finding the truth that is out there and the truth that is within.

It's what 99% of the fans wanted I reckon. Maybe you just need to go back and watch the last 4 seasons that you missed and then you'll realise how very very very slowly the concept of them being together was introduced and then you won't be quite so horrified by the idea.
Great film though.
Oh please come back and bring Mayo with you...these two substitutes are doing my head in.

Well of course he did! It's Gillian Anderson and he's only a man made of flesh and blood. Are you really gonna sit there and judge him Mark?!

While there was undoubtably some sexual tension between Mulder and Scully as the characters developed, I always felt that the great thing about the first few series was that it avoided that whole Moonlightling "will they, won't they" and focused on the plot instead.

But then the whole thing just got too big, and started to take itself too seriously. In particular I didn't enjoy the programme when the episodes got to be more about ongoing plot lines, and less about Mulder and Scully investigating unexplained mysteries.
Saying that... I'll be watching the film next week anyway.
