The end of the week comes rolling around, but not before we send you into the weekend with one last MPFree. Today’s offering comes from Dublin’s Girl Band, and it’s a clattering, mechanical slice of post-punk.
Girl Band consists, naturally, of four young lads. Over the past year, their dance-tinged breed of post-punk has been drawing more and more attention, but their latest single, ‘De Bom Bom’ is their most confident declaration of intent to date. With its shattering, DFA 1979-esque, rhythm, and its loud-quiet vocals, the song offers some insight as to why Girl Band are being heralded is one of the most exciting new acts in years. You can catch their eardrum-bursting live show over the next couple of months.
