Mr Stuart Dredge returns for another week of App reviews...

Anthm (iPhone)

Anthm is an app for making collaborative party music playlists. You add some songs, then let everyone coming to your party download the app, add their own songs, and vote tracks up or down to make them play sooner (or later). It's one of several such apps - but what are the risks of giving up control of your party's music in this way?

Vera Wang on Weddings (iPad)

Fashion designer Vera Wang has a new app to help brides-to-be plan their day - a mixture of looking at dresses and serious productivity tools for planning.

Clik (Android / iPhone)

This app lets your smartphone 'take control of any screen' and show YouTube videos on it - good for hijacking the telly with videos of cats falling off things.

I say this every week, but it's been a lovely old week of free downloads which has included some Here We Go Magic and a great Mylo remix of The Do's current single.

The week concludes with a track from jangly-indie flag wavers Beach Fossils. The single Shallow is released through Captured Tracks on February 21st, but you can get your hands on it for free below.

As for the artwork, Lauren asked you for photos of moody girls to tie in with the People's Playlist. We went with this sulky offering from Beth Breeze:

Your EP tracks this week are:

The Do - Gonna Be Sick (Mylo Remix)

Tom Williams & The Boat - My Bones

Nick Waterhouse - Some Place

Here We Go Magic - Make Up Your Mind

Beach Fossils - Shallow

This week's Memory Tapes, for the first time in weeks, is not a tale of love. It comes from writer, journalist and Twitter friend of the show Michael Moran, who writes: "This is just my super all-powerful 'writing' playlist. Not too distracting, but still hip easy listening.

"You can pop this on if Lauren's not well. Everyone listening will get loads done."

So, excpect a productive 25 minutes. Usually, we put the full tracklisting up on the site, but as Michael states, it's: 119 songs, 8.8 hours, 893.7 MB long. So, here's a small selection from the mix:

Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space - Spiritualized

The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin

Swollen - Bent

Heartbeats - Jose González

All I Need - Moon Safari Air

Sea Green - William Orbit

Ends - Everlast

Wild Wood (Portishead Mix) - Paul Weller

A Walk Across the Rooftops - The Blue Nile

Wake Up In New York - Craig Armstrong

Gorecki - Lamb

Mustt Mustt - Daddy G Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

Lovely Head - Goldfrapp

Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd

Tune in from 10am to hear which tracks Lauren plays, and if you'd like to take part then drop her an email with the track listing and the story.

It's Friday which means it's Memory Tapes time again (we know, we can't believe it either).

Todays tape tale comes from Tanya, she made it for her brother to try and update his music taste. But did it work?

She writes:

"Last year I made my brother a memory tape. He’s a nice man but his musical tastes seem to have got stuck in 1974. This is odd, because he was only two at the time. So I decided to cheer him up because he was a bit down, and send him a bunch of MP3s to update his playlist by a few decades."

Here are the tracks:

No Kind Words – The Maccabees

Next Girl – The Black Keys

Blue Blood Blues – The Dead Weather

Heavy in Your Arms – Florence + the Machine

Flume – Bon Iver

None of Us Are Free – Solomon Burke

Wholehearted Mess – Bear in Heaven

Equinox – Death Cab for Cutie

The Underdog – Spoon

Them That Do Nothing – Field Music

Many Shades of Black – The Raconteurs

The Man Comes Around – Johnny Cash

Baby Loves Me – Eels

Conversation 16 – The National

Laughing With – Regina Specktor

Own Side – Caitlin Rose

Swim Until You Can’t See Land – Frightened Rabbit

Ticket Taker – The Low Anthem

Thanks Tanya!

Today's MPFREE is a track from the band Tanlines. It's called Brothers and you can download it for free by following this here link;Tanlines: Brothers

The track is from their first full length album Mixed Emotions. On this LP Eric Emm and Jesse Cohen of Tanlines are largely expanding on the sounds sketched out on their 2010 EP, Settings.

Eric and Jesse are from Brooklyn and both used to be in different bands. Eric was in Don Caballero and Storm And Stress, Jesse was from Professor Murder (which Eric produced). They started working together as Tanlines in 2008.

Eric and Jesse said of the track title Brothers that it "was the name of the studio where we started Tanlines, but I think the song is a good idea of where we are right now."

Enjoy!
