We're sticking with fathers and sons for the Memory Tapes this week. The father in question is Dave from Sunderland, who writes...
"My memory tape was made for my son, Mark. We used to get together every once in a while and have what we called a musical appreciation night (M.A.N). It came about when we used to discuss songs that we liked, songs I liked that he maybe hadn't heard before and vice versa.
"Anyway, we would get together and eat pizza, drink beer and red wine and take it in turn to play a track, explain what it was we liked about it and discuss it together after we had listened. He was in his early twenties at the time and he's 30 now so at a guess it was about 7 or 8 years ago when we used to meet to do this.
"We enjoyed it so much that it became a pretty regular occurance, once every few months or so. My memory tape is the last M.A.N that we had. I just decided rather than search through cds etc in a state of eventual drunkenness, I would tape my choices and play them one at a time.
"Mark enjoyed most of these songs so much that he kept the tape and played it quite regularly. The songs are a kind of musical journey for me and I wanted him to hear stuff I was listening to when I was young as well as some more recent stuff."
