THE POET LAURENEATE; THE BEST OF THE REST
To celebrate Monday's guest - poet and comedian Tim Key, we asked you to send us your poems in order to become our Poet 'Laureneate' for the week.
Team Laverne selected Sophie Johnson for the job who'll be writing a daily poem for the show. But because we were sent a couple of corkers, we'll be publishing the best of the rest each day.
First up, this beauty from Kieron in London:
Local natives easing in the week
With clever tones of northern soul, lighting
Ways to cope with workers' boredom. Citing
Music from the fields and gut, to seek
The phoenix rising from the grooves and dents
In life's old surface rough and pitted but streaked
With wit and warmth in waves of sound that break
On us, devoted list'ners who pay rent
Returning day by day to give attention
To our chief, our leader, Dalai Lauren
Her wishes our commands, release of tension
Daily 'til the weekend, when withdrawn
From company with us, her keen-felt lack
Makes Monday's prospect easier to take.
