Sam Fender – Greasy Spoon is now on Radio 1’s playlist, as our Introducing featured artist! You can catch his wonderful vocals being played by Clara, Dev, Adele, Scott, Greg and Alice all week.

Style: Up-tempo indie pop.

Essential: Sam Fender is a singer and songwriter from Newcastle who first uploaded to BBC Music Introducing in the North East in May 2017. He is influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys and has supported Catfish and The Bottlemen, Ben Howard and George Ezra on tour. You can catch Sam playing BBC Music Introducing’s showcase gig at The Lexington on October 5th and he is planning his first headline UK tour for later this year.

Prima has been playlisted on 1Xtra! You can catch her memorizing track 'What Ru Saying' being played by Mim Shaikh, A.Dot, Twin B, Nick Bright and Yasmin Evans all week.

Style: Graceful neo-soul with a hip hop edge.

Essential: Prima is songwriter and vocalist Penny Nicholls from Manchester who first sent her music in to Introducing in 2016. She is classically trained and layers her soulful vocals over hip hop productions. Prima is inspired by Nao, Jessie Ware and Mura Masa and at the moment is working on more music, including collaborations with Zed Bias and SHAPES.
