On the playlist: TCTS - 1997

Tom Young

Introducing online producer

It's one of the highlights of our week getting a BBC Introducing track on the Radio 1 playlist. This week, it's the turn of TCTS and the track 1997. It had a play on Sara Cox's show today and will get further plays by Greg James, Scott Mills and Dev too. It'll also be part of Huw Stephens' download later in the week. For now, just have a listen below, find out more about TCTS and say hello in the comments bit.

Hometown: TCTS is Sam O'Neil - an electronic music producer from Stoke on Trent.

Style: Sam isn't a stranger to the bigger clubs in London and Manchester appearing on bills with the likes of Boddika, Bondax and another BBC Introducing fave, Ifan Dafydd. At a time when Disclosure are really hitting their stride, the mood is just right for 1997 and its delicious brand of broken beats and teasing vocals.

You need to know: According to my BBC Introducing sources in Stoke, TCTS stands for The Clock The Storm. It was the name of an indie band from Staffordshire Sam was in before deciding to concentrate on making his own electro music. The band did have some success including a few plays on BBC 6 Music.

Supported by: TCTS has been getting plays aplenty from BBC Introducing from Stoke since last May and his tracks have also featured on Huw Stephens Introducing show which led to plays on other BBC Radio 1 shows including Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac
