Each week BBC Introducing puts an act supported by one of the local shows onto the Radio 1 Playlist for national exposure. That track is given slots on daytime shows including Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Greg James – this week it’s the turn of Rubee Rayne with her track Youth. Listen to it below and leave your comments at the foot of the blog.
Hometown: Rubee Rayne is a singer-songwriter and rapper from Berkshire. She was born in Nigeria before moving to the UK at the age of 10.
Style: With influences including Janelle Monae, MIA, Kanye West and The xx, Rubee crafts a futuristic mix of indie, RnB and hip hop. Youth is taken from Rayne’s first EP, Forever Golden and is stacked full of interesting moments and melodies showcasing a young artist’s inventive perspective.
