Best Friends are the latest BBC Introducing act to be selected for our sought after weekly spot on the Radio 1 playlist. Their track “Fake Spit” (which you can listen to in full below) will receive plays from Fearne, Greg and Scott. Find out more about the band that started in a basement and let us know what you think.
Hometown: Sheffield.
Style: With oodles of energy and embracing the current indie scene that’s sweeping the UK, Best Friends offer a slightly American alternative to the likes of Jamie T and Jake Bugg. Clocking in at under three-minutes, this punk-inspired track is a perfect sampler to get you into this promising new act. For fans of Catfish and The Bottlemen and Circa Waves.
You Need To Know: After meeting at University in Sheffield, these four mates began making music in a basement and shared their first track with BBC Introducing in Sheffield back in 2011. Just six months later they released their first EP and four years after that they’re gearing up for their debut album release - “Hot, Reckless, Totally Insane” - in May. They’ll be touring around the UK to promote the record and no doubt their name will feature on countless festival bills this summer with tunes like this.
