BBC Music Introducing

BBC Music Introducing supports unsigned, undiscovered and under the radar music across the UKOver 200,000 artists have uploaded their music with a promise that within 6 months their music will be heard by someone at the BBC. Introducing offers a platform to propel the acts onto the national stage through Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6 Music, the Asian Network and Radio 3. BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend brings all of these stations together from Friday 25th - Sunday 27th May this year.

There are over 170 acts performing across four locations over the weekend with 52 of the acts (roughly 30%) being supported by BBC Music Introducing.

There will be a BBC Music Introducing stage at the Swansea leg of the festival, featuring acts like Mahalia, Sea Girls, Boy Azooga, as well as Isaac Gracie returning once more to the Introducing stage.

Meanwhile in Perth Introducing successors The Shires take to the main stage; their first ever acoustic session together was for BBC Music Introducing in 2014. Other Introducing acts playing in Perth across the weekend include Rae Morris, Hannah Grace, Callum Beattie, ONR, Emma McGrath and The Vistas, plus Mezcla will be performing their jazzy blues for BBC Radio 3 courtesy of Introducing.

South of Scotland, Brother Zulu, Dorcha, Jalen N'Gonda, Ten Tonnes and Joe Dolman will be flying the Introducing flag in Coventry, while The Orielles, Touts, Shame, Superorganism, Dream Wife and SOAK will be representing in Belfast

There will also be a BBC Music Introducing tour going from The Great Escape in Brighton and ending at the Biggest Weekend. Mahalia, Ten Tonnes, Alicaí Harley and ONR will start the tour at the Introducing showcase at The Paganini Ballroom at The Great Escape Festival. Mahalia and Alicia Harley will then play The Leadmill in Sheffield, The Bullingdon in Oxford and The Cluny in Newcastle, whilst Ten Tonnes and ONR will play Headrow House in Leeds, Fiddlers in Bristol and then Purple Turtle before each heading to The Biggest Weekend.

Many Introducing alumni will be performing across the weekend including Florence + the Machine, James Bay and CHVRCHES.
