Let's get this year started right with the first BBC Introducing artist to feature on the Radio 1 Playlist in 2014 - Rosie Lowe with her track Right Thing. Rosie's place on the playlist means she gets played on Radio 1 daytime shows across the week and will also feature in Huw Stephens' free download, released after his show on Wednesday night.

Hometown: Rosie Lowe is based in South London but was born and raised in Devon, where she mastered six instruments by the time she was 13.

Style: Right Thing is a real winter warmer and the title track from her debut EP which she worked on with producers Kwes and Dave Okumu of The Invisible. It's minimal, atmospheric soul that trips forward beat by beat with Rosie's rich vocal and a clutch of fascinating beats including an ominous ticking clock effect that only adds to its dreamy feel.

You need to know: The video for Right Thing has already clocked over 50,000 views since being uploaded in November 2013.

Supported by: After uploading Right Thing to BBC Introducing, it has been supported by Rosie's local shows in London and Devon and national shows including Jen Long and Ally McCrae's Radio 1 show.

Find out more: Head to Rosie's Soundcloud page for more tracks and follow her on Twitter for updates from the lady herself.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
