On the playlist: Vaults - Cry No More
Tom Young
Introducing online producer
This week, Vaults take the BBC Introducing spot on the Radio 1 Playlist. Their reward is a series of plays across Radio 1 daytime by DJs including Dev, Scott Mills and Fearne Cotton. The track Cry No More can be heard below and you can tell us what you think in the comments section.
Hometown: Vaults are from London.
Style: Vaults describe their sound as a mixture of lyricism, electronics and strings delivered with ‘a labyrinthine quality’ and who are we to argue with such eloquence. Cry No More is beautiful and enchanting and makes amazing use of a glockenspiel (full marks for that). The haunting tone and stirring female vocal remind us of Bat For Lashes and, more recently, London Grammar. You won’t be satisfied by one listen.
You need to know: We all need to know a lot more about Vaults. They’ve only sent five Tweets and have just one track on Soundcloud – this one. At the time of writing, it has over 211,000 plays. Fair to say the crowd want more!
Supported by: Cry No More was Zane Lowe’s Next Hype back in September.
Find out more: Well… they have a mailing list you can subscribe to on their website and, you never know, they may Tweet again very soon...
