BBC Radio 1: Moss Kena - Square One
The insanely talented Moss Kena is now on Radio 1's playlist! You can hear his track 'Square One' being played by Clara, Matt & Mollie, Grimmy, Adele, Scott and Dev & Alice all week.
Supported by: Our mates at BBC Music Introducing in London.
Style: Gooey soul pop.
Essential: Moss Kena is a 20 year old singer and songwriter from West London. He first appeared on the scene back in 2016 with a reimagining of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘These Walls’ and then kept a secret profile for the formative part of his career. Kendrick actually rocked up to one of his studio sessions after that, to tell him he loved the version! 'Square One' is taken from his 'Found You In 06' EP, which is a reference to Amy Winehouse’s 'Back to Black' album, who is a deep inspiration to the Moss. Earlier this year, DJ Target invited him onto his 1Xtra show where he performed a stunning Spotlight Session, and showed off his unique voice.
BBC 1Xtra: Sharna Bass - Hit & Run
The wonderful Sharna Bass is on 1Xtra's playlist! Listen to her track 'Hit & Run' being played all week!
Supported by: The legends at BBC Music Introducing in London.
Style: Silky smooth R&B.
Essential: Sharna Bass is a 21 year old R&B artist from North West London. Although it feels like she's only just getting started, you've probably heard her voice before on Clean Bandit’s 2014 smash hit 'Extraordinary'! Sharna is influenced by the greats - Lauryn Hill, Biggie and Sade - and clearly has huge ambitions of her own. 1Xtra's DJ Target is a big fan of this artist – he had her in for a Spotlight Session which you can watch here.
