On the playlist: ALX - Beautiful Criminal

This week’s BBC Introducing spot on the Radio 1 playlist is taken up by brand new talent ALX and his track Beautiful Criminal. It will be played across Radio 1 daytime shows and feature in Huw Stephen’s free download, available after his Wednesday night show. Have a listen to it below and share your comments with us.

Hometown: ALX is a 22 year-old self-producer singer-songwriter from Scotland.

Style: Plenty of mystery surrounds ALX and we’re really excited by this, his first release. Beautiful Criminal is a slickly produced modern love song using RnB and electronic beats to showcase ALX’s impressive vocal. He’s a fan of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Justin Timberlake which goes some way to explaining this first showing.

You need to know: So far, the information on ALX can mostly be filed under ‘classified’. There’s a seductive video for Beautiful Criminal, a handful of Tweets and a few disguised press shots. Expect the mystery to slowly unravel as more tracks get released and he builds towards live shows.
