The Introducing End of Year Party with Sky Larkin, Rolo Tomassi, Pixel H8 and Mickey P Kerr was a lot of fun. It was great to be able to invite four different bands over to Maida Vale to play their own and some festive tunes. If you're quick you can listen back here, and do check out the Pixelh8 video - he's the chip tunes don!

Tonight on Radio 1 from 7pm-10pm it's the In New Music We Trust Christmas Party! Yes, deck the halls of Maida Vale with us as we bop around and enjoy some of the finest new bands we've heard this year. Glasvegas, Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Chipmunk, Chase and Status and Golden Silvers are all playing - it's going to be wicked so do tune in. A feast of live music!

This Wednesday from 9pm it's Christmas eve! To celebrate, I'll be looking back over some of the Introducing highlights of the year and from 12midnight it's my Weird and Wonderful Christmas. Two hours of festive tunes and special guests Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips, Wiley, Corey from Slipknot and Karl Pilkington.

Have a wonderful time and hope your ears are filled with good tunes over the week!

Take Care

The wonderful Little Boots is in session on the show this week. Her dancey rhythms, blended beats and sugar sultry sweet vocals make a lovely noise, as seen in her storming live shows recently. Annie Mac loves her too and her in for a mini mix a little while back, and the BBC Sounds of 2009 predicts big things for her. It's all very exciting then, and it was lovely to meet Victoria, for she is Little Boots, and have a chat before this week's session. She also posts a lot of videos online; here's just one...

Hoorah for Florence and the Machine too, who's won the Critics Choice Brit Award as the artist to watch in 09. Happy days!

One of my favourite new bands of 08 are in session tonight on Introducing from midnight. They're so good live, as seen on the Introducing stage at In the City in October. I saw them play in Cardiff recently too, and if I was forced to pick a band or two that should do well over the the year that is 09, I'd probably go for this band of fun-loving melody-tastic guitar monkeys.

As well as 'normal' gigs, they like playing oin lecture halls too. oh yes. A little taster?
