A big up and a big thanks to da Bank for covering the show this week. I listened back, and of course it sounded like the bomb-diggy-bomb:) The sessions from Maida Vale were ace - Dolby Anol rocked the house of course, and a whole host of new tunes, including the I Can Count label profile. I'm back this Wednesday night with the talent that is Eugene McGuinness in sesion. He's a young singer songwriter from Liverpool who we've been playing his demos since we first heard them - he's a proper interesting talent with a bright future in front of him. So be sure to check the session out, and of course the usual mix of ACE new music.

I'm putting the finishing touches to the line up of the Lake Stage at this yeras Latitude festival - it's gonna be a good one! Full line up to be revealed soon - if you like the music you hear on the show, you won't be dissapointed guaranteed!

Also went to the Welsh Baftas last night - I was up for Best Presenter for Bandit the television show I present on S4C. And I didn't win. I woz robbed! but hey ho, it was nice to be nominated, didn't expect to win of course. HONEST!

Dr Who was there and won quite a bit, as was Ken Russell the mad film director. And a whole host of other showbiz types. I was tucked up in bed quite early:)

Hope you're weekend is/was good

A whole bunch of ace new tunes in the programme last night - part 2 of Lucy Over Lancashire, the Sonny Jim track, Cruiser Chimps, lush Welsh tune from Yucatan, and the Stuart James session tracks were as fast and furious as couldve been expected. Big things!

Last night we had a dj dinner in a secret location in London, a whole bunch of djs tucking into some tasty grub, with talk of music films and the best thing in the world, radio. Itd be rude of me to part with gossip from the night (I had to leave early cos of the show of course), but I spoke to Ras Kwame about watching the Pipettes in NYC, Mary Anne Hobbs about her night in Cardiff soon, Bobby Friction about the Prince film Purple Rain, Daniel P Carter about the Full Ponty and Download festivals, Rob da Bank about the Beastie Boys at Bestival and the Trophy Twins about whatever came out of their filthy northern mouths:)

On the show tonight

Oi oi...hope you're well.

Went to see Napoleon 3rd at a BRainlvoe Records night in Cardiff last week - he's well good, we've played his crazy tunes on the show before and like them very much. He'll be supporting Los Campesinos! on a few forthcoming dates too. They're going to be releasing You, Me, Dancing soon - hooray!

Tonight on the show its the genius named Stuart James in session. I saw him play In the City Manchester last year, and his short, snappy ace songs are a real breath of fresh air in a world dominated by samey singer songwriters.

Loads of new tracks by new bands and producers to play you tonight too, and DIY label of the week is Alcopop records, who've released Data.Select.Party in the past - so a few new tunes from their roster on tonight too

it was a weekend of gigs. with a trip to Stoke on Friday night for a Sons nigh out, probably the most eventful night out in a long time with a fire alarm going off and everything. Ooh, and having an ex-Smith have a go at me. Nice. Thursday night was good with Threatmantics, Shes Got Spies and Mr Huw, and Saturday night in Crdiff too. Yougn Knives ere brilliant - their new tracks sund really strong, as well as the old favourites of course. I say old, theyre not realy, you know what I mean. Also saw Gethin Pearson and the Scenery who was good - he's in session on Radio 1 Wales in a couple of weeks. Sunday night saw Cymbient play a great gig, with supoort from JT Mouse - hadn't seen him play for a while and was on top form with his odd, skee-whiff amazing lyrically tunes. And then I slept, ate eggs, listened to El-P, Bruce Springsteens Nebraska, Rob da Bank's show, and the Bright Eyes album.

Easter listening

This weeks show is up to listen again - check out the brilliant opening track, lucy over Lancashire - it's a bit scary. Also in there some brill new electronica, and check the lovely Fence records tunes too. Am in Stoke Djing tonight at a Sons night at Kings Hall. Listened to Cassadaga, the amazing new Bright Eyes album on the train. And the Explorers Club - more Beach Boys than the Beach boys! Last night on Radio 1 Wales we had Threatmantics playing on the show, and then I went to see them, Mr Huw and She's Got Spies playing and did a bit of djing, avoiding the Stone Roses requests till 2am, playing Candie Payne, a few blkan treats and a bit of j5 among the other tunes. And then was on the train with Huw drummer from Threatmantics today to Birmingham, even though im afraid I slept most of the way. Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Ps - This City sesison this week was awesome - there's a few of the tunes on this wees free podcast too.

nice one

This week's show features a wicked screamo band from Brighton, the excellent This City. Their demo was so strong and gotsuch a good reaction we invited them into Maida Vale, and the outcome is on the show this Wednesday night, flying th flag for Brighton. Been through hundreds of demos this week on myspace and with the post and getting them down to the creme de la creme right now for the shows in the next couple of weeks. Also, Louise the producer is in the midle of setting up an official show unsigned myspace page. Steve Lamacqs done it for ages, and we're juming on his bandwagon:) It'll be up soon :)
