Gems from Birkdale

Well, that was fun wasn't it?

Today it was all about the wind as the world's finest golfers were blown off course by a howling gale that wreaked havoc at Royal Birkdale.

No-one was able to shoot a round under par and we will go into the final day with veteran Greg Norman standing proud on two over - that's right, two over - and two strokes clear of the field.

As the wind continues to rattle around the media tent, we'll leave you with the best quotes from an eventful day. See you tomorrow.

"I will definitely bring more warm-weather gear and learn my wind shots."
Anthony Kim is asked what he has learnt from his maiden Open experience.

"The Duke of York said he'd hit a ball in there the other day. I said, 'did you find it, sir?' and he said, 'no'."
Paul Casey is in good company after losing his ball during Saturday's play.

"It's always great playing with Monty. He adds a few more spectators to the group. It's always better than playing with just my family."
I'm feeling quite sorry for Henrik Stenson now. Bless.

"I'll be honest, I walked to the first tee nervous today. I hadn't felt that way for 10 years, maybe."
You see, even if you've won two Opens like Greg Norman, the first-tee jitters can affect everyone.

"I suppose being not far away from the lead is an achievement but I won't get to keep a penny of the prize money."
Chris Wood on the main drawback of being an amateur.

"I tried my hand with my dad's clubs when I was 12 or 13, chipping his brand-new balls into one of our walls and not being allowed out on the weekend for damaging them."
Tough love didn't seem to affect Simon Wakefield did it?

"Am I allowed to say bloody tough? Yes? Bloody tough then."
Robert Allenby does not mince his words after a 76 placed him on eight over.

"I have no idea what the forecast is. Going by the weather service over here, they don't either."
Hey, Padraig Harrington, don't you have a go at our lovely Carol Kirkwood.

"I am extremely disappointed with my score. Very few people hit the ball better than I did today and I don't walk away from today's round any less confident than yesterday. If anything, I gained confidence."
David Duval may have carded an 83 but these former Open champions are made of strong stuff.
