Vote Labour Get Plaid?
- 1 May 07, 11:25 AM
Gareth Thomas, a contributor to this blog and former Labour MP for Clwyd West is expected to endorse Dafydd Wigley as a candidate on the regional list in north Wales this afternoon.
He's not endorsing Plaid but must know his days a Labour Party member are about to come to an abrupt end.
Come on Gareth, tell us more!

Betsan,
If Gareth Jones regains the Aberconwy seat and the other 3 Plaid AM's retain their seats, I feel it will be highly unlikely that Plaid will get 2 Regional seats, so Dafydd Wigley loses out... with or without Gareth Thomas's support...interesting developments though!! What do you think?

Yes. This is true I will be voting Plaid in the North Wales list. I believe Dafydd Wiggley is an outstanding politician whose experience, vision and passion will add value to the Assembly as it enters a new stage of its development. I will be voting for Alun Pugh in the individual seat of Clwyd West. I might not always warm to his style but there is no doubt that he has been a hard working AM and it would be a shame to lose him for a right wing Tory. If Wigley gets in it will carry the added bonus of knocking a Conservative off the North Wales list.
I expect to be chucked out of the Labour party for this. However I am not ready to join Plaid. I do not support their policy of independence and I continue to be of the view that Iraq notwithstanding Labour has been good for the UK and Wales.

Why should GT's days as a Labour member come to an end? Bliar and Mandelson are helping Sarkozy fight an election against Labour's sister party candidate in France. But that's just silly of me - obviously there are totally different rules for bosses and workers in Blair's neo-con state. Surely the real question is why GT hasn't announced his resignation a long time ago.

Well sounds like he was not a fan of the Iraq war. He is right Dafydd Wigley is an outstanding politician and a man of both passion and vision, something that many of the gray men and women in the Assembly lack.

Has anybody asked Janet Ryder if she's planning to stand down if she gets elected as #1 on Plaid's N. Wales Regional list?
If I was a political journalist I would be asking her that very question...
