Photo Spoiler: No escaping the past

Guest Insider

King of Walford, Phil Mitchell, is not a fan of people trespassing on his patch. So when he finds that the Arches have been broken into, he’s not best pleased! Little did he expect, however, to find a grouchy Shirley curled up inside one of the cars, having a kip!

She claims that Kim has chucked her out of the B&B, prompting Phil to march over there to sort it out - but he soon learns the real story from Denise; Shirley’s benefits have been cut and she can no longer afford the rent!

Giving Denise a solid warning to tell no one, Phil pays for Shirley to stay a couple more months. Maybe he does have a soft side after all?!

For Whitney, the past rears its ugly head when an eccentric stranger arrives on the Square with a letter from her jailed abuser, Tony. Reluctantly, Whitney takes it, but is rocked to read its contents…

Going behind Tyler and Bianca's backs, Whitney summons all her strength to face her old foe and goes to see him in prison. Upon arrival, however, she’s told something about Tony that threatens to change her life completely! Will she ever be able to recover from what she has learned?

Carl's mindgames with Kirsty continue when he subtly reminds her it’s his mum Nora’s birthday – he hasn’t been able to face her since prison, meaning she’ll be spending it alone in her care home. To his delight, Kirsty suggests they should visit.

Carl’s not too happy though, when he learns Kirsty intends to tell Nora they’ve broken up! But, just as she's about to break the news, Nora tells her how much it would break her heart if she ever split with Carl! Will Kirsty have the courage to tell her? And is there more to Nora than meets the eye??
