David Wicks Returns to EastEnders

*Exhale* We’ve been bursting with excitement waiting to tell you this one! We are very pleased to announce the return of David Wicks, one of Walford’s most legendary characters, later this year.
We last saw David in January 2012 when he returned to Pat, his mother, in her last few hours. He hung around long enough to attend her funeral, rub Derek Branning up the wrong way and reignite old flames with Carol. Stale feuds quickly resurfaced with the truth emerging about why David and Derek never got on, and Carol and David rediscovered the spark that had been there since they were teenagers. Alas, history repeated itself, and on the night that they were due to ride off into the sunset together, David realised he couldn’t be with Carol and so left alone, leaving her heartbroken.
However he couldn’t forget his leading lady that easily. Since his departure, David has tried to get in touch with Carol - but Derek intercepted the letters and hid them away. Boo hiss. It wasn’t until after Derek died that Carol realised, however too much time had passed for her to do anything about it. Is their on-off-on again love story now set to continue? How is Masood going to respond to Carol’s ex being in town? We can’t wait to see!
"It’s an absolute honour to have Michael back in the show," revealed Lorraine Newman, EastEnders' Executive Producer. "Michael created an iconic character in David and with such rich history, with Ian, Bianca and of course, Carol, there’s plenty to explore in the future.”
Michael French first appeared as David Wicks in 1994 and has been part of some of EastEnders’ most memorable storylines. Who could forget him falling for Bianca, soon learning that she was his DAUGHTER! Eek! David quickly became one of Walford’s most notorious womanisers, having relationships with Sam Mitchell and Cindy Beale, his half-brothers wife. His return to Albert Square will cause a stir for the other Walford residents - but how and why is he returning? You’re going to have to wait and see!
