Just as the residents of Walford pack away the drama of 2014 and all hope for a positive start to 2015, things take a dark turn - and for one person there's a tragic ending...

New Year’s Day is usually a day of celebrations and although things start off on a good note, it is not long before things go fatally wrong. With the fallout from the explosive Carter Christmas still unfolding, Dean is looking to leave Walford but with Shirley warning her son to stay for fear of him looking guilty, is this the advice she should be giving her youngest considering Mick is on the warpath?

Ronnie is on the verge of getting married to her beloved Charlie but she is still desperate to get rid of Nick Cotton. Taking matters into her own hands, Ronnie steps up her plan and desperate she steals from Phil however, it doesn’t take long for Phil to work out what has happened leading to the two to have a furious argument on her wedding day. As Ronnie desperately tries to reason with Phil, telling him how much she needs to get Nick out of their lives once and for all, will she or Phil be able to see off the bad thread of the Cotton family for good? Or will Nick find his own way of seeing off the Mitchells?

Meanwhile, Emma Summerhayes steps up her one woman investigation and gets ever closer to Lucy’s killer. As she pieces together the clues of what has happened over the past few months, Emma thinks she has solved the mystery that has engulfed Walford. Determined to get closure for Lucy’s friends and families, Emma confronts the killer but is she putting herself in danger?
