There's much celebration at EastEnders HQ this morning, after the show was crowned Best Serial Drama and Danny Dyer scooped Best Serial Drama Performance at last night's 2016 National Television Awards.
"I'm honoured to be a part of a sublime, depressing programme," Danny cheekily announced in his acceptance speech, before praising his fellow nominee. "Rakhee (Thakrar) - what you've done is a beautiful thing."
Kellie Bright led the thanks as cast and crew gathered on stage to accept the Best Serial Drama ward. "Thank you so much for voting for us; it means so much," she told the audience, before praising Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, who "lives and breathes this show".
Commiserations to Rakhee, and also Richard Blackwood, who was nominated for Best Newcomer.
