Got caught up in another Olympic lanes maelstrom this morning...

Chris Evans|09:39 UK time, Wednesday, 18 July 2012

If I acquire a bus sometime in the next nine days can I use the fast track routes to get to the show for the Olympic fortnight when we will be broadcasting every day, including both weekends live from The Olympic Park? Answer? Nobody's really sure. Can I use a motorbike ? Again, no one really knows. For the rest of this week I shall simply continue to set off from home before I arrived back there the day before, that way I should just about make it in before the end of Vanessa's show.

Let me know, if anyone knows anything for sure about anything at all.

Peace and Love

    Hi Chris,

All motorists, including buses and coaches can use the Olympic Route Network.

On part of the ORN are ‘Games Lanes’. These are strictly for the accredited games vehicles and emergency services. Most Games Lanes will operate between 6am and midnight. These lanes will be opened up to all traffic when they are less busy. A network of 150 electronic signs along the ORN and PRN will advise motorists when the lanes are open to general traffic. If you go into the Games Lane during Operational Times, you will be fined.

Hi Chris: oooh, sounds like a nightmare on the travel front! It's just wonderful to have you back, Chris - crazy as it sounds, I can barely function in the mornings without you!

Cheryl: nice to see you back for a quick visit. Good to hear all your news. xx

Sezza: I really do feel for your nephew - he must be getting very fed up, but you are doing your bit to help. xx

Gail: that's great you got a wee mention from Vanessa. xx

No news from me - always a bonus!

    Happy Hump Day, bloggers!

Morning CLP & ALL Of..... THE BLOG...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP - Olympic lanes.... Normally they are on an athletics track of an oval manner.... But sadly The 2012 Olympics are in a country run by not normal people!!!!!!!!

'ow 'as this country got to such a state that the PM 'as lost control of the country as there's so many departments and private companies under 'im that it seems nothing gets done without MAJOR problems of an INSANE nature????!!!!!!!!!!

Take a look at this... We are becoming the laughing stock of the world (no wonder nobody votes for us at The Eurovision Song gigs).... Now the US CNN are reporting on the madness created by our government:

    https://youtu.be/7gQQzJRog8g

I'm only a truck driver... I don't get paid 80k a year ter come up with MAD ideas like paint olympic lanes everywhere but inside the stadium....
My answer ter getting olympians and officials from 'eathrow to their 'otels in London:

Firstly if a was an athlete in a foreign country.... Saling down a special olympic lane built for me while the people of the country were in traffic caos.... I would feel a little uncomfortable and embarressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now what did the goverment spend millions on building 15 years ago.... THE 'EATHROW CONNECT EXPRESS train non-stop from London Paddington ter -eathrow...... Airport - WHATTA COINCIDENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never used it as it's a rich person's train service at 19 quid when yer can get the tube for 6 quid..... BUT......

Instead of MAD olympic lanes.... Wouldn't it make sense ter let the olympians and officials use this train for free..... It runs every 15 minutes at speeds of 100mph.... and takes only 22 minutes ter whisk them inter central London all on a modern new train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then at Paddington station they could 'ave special olympic coaches waiting next ter the platform (of which there is access for vehicles ter get inside the station)..... Then taking them onter their 'otels.... And maybe taking a well planned route passing some of the sights like Buckingham Palace.......

Now what a warm and impressive welcome that would be.... Instead of taking them down the congested M4 which is even more congested due to the olympic lane..... and over the grubby Brentford flyover.......

The above a VERY simple and inexpensive idea... That would work and work most nice blog friends...... MOST NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Glad ter 'elp!

  • Comment number 4.

Faling the above.... CLP if yer need a bus even though yer noot sure if yer can use the olympic lanes in a bus.....

Ask Lex Bruce if yer can borrow one of 'is buses while 'e is doing Popmaster.... Then bang on some well polished Polish number plates.... Stick a few olympic stickers on it.... With Polish so nobody can understadn what it says.....
And then the police will think yer ok ter use the olympic lanes.... and even if they find out yer can't.... They won't be able ter trace yer due to yer polish polished plates!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND if the worst came te rthe worst and the police did trace the bus with false plates.....

It'll be Lex Bruce who ends up in the slammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad ter 'elp twice in a dee!!!

  • Comment number 5.

Can somebody pay me 80k a year plus expenses for coming up with the above idea!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 6.

    Hello CE & Everyone.

    No rain today so far!

Who knows the answer to the Games lanes Chris? If the British motorists who pay road tax are allowed to use them during non operational times when they are less busy and they will be informed of this by electronic signs along the lanes how will they know when this will happen and what time to leave home.

Can you get accommodation near to the Olympic Park? I suppose this will be as difficult a task as trying to get into the games lanes!

You should have bought that fire engine at that auction Chris!

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just found this american video of 'ow te rget from 'eathrow ter central London fast:

WHATTA COINCIDENCE..... It doesn't say use olympic lanes:

    Aye up!

I have to say, I'm getting fed up with all the Limpix stuff and it's not even started yet! Can't we just get on with it ..... bring on the sport, I say, and stop all this drawn out pre-amble waffle and piffle.

    Phew!

Well, just back from walking The Lad, and as is customary of late, midway through our walk time the heavens absolutely opened with a vengeance! Great. I now resemble a drowned rat and His Nibs is somewhat muddy. Again.

As for you Bingles .... "only a truck driver" ..... if it wasn't for people like you, this country would grind to a halt altogether.

I think I need some happy juice.

  • Comment number 9.

Deevs - It's 'cos of truckers like me that we blamed for causing traffic 'old up..... Even though like yer say we keepin' the shelves stocked up for the ungrateful!!!!!!!!

Just 'eard in the middle of the Jezza show.... 13.00 news bulletin.... Now cyclists are protesting in London that they can't use the olympic lanes!!!!!!!!!!

My question.... Can yer use the cycle lane if yer an olympic cyclist on yer way ter the yer event on yer olympic cycle?????????

PPPPS The governments response ter the protesting cyclists..... Yer can use some olympic lanes.... So in other words.... yer can use that one.... But noot that one.... but yer can us this one.... But noot the one over there.... But yer can use the one over 'ere ter get over there.... It's just once yer over there.... Yer can't use the one over there.... like yer can with the one that's over 'ere!!!!!!!!!!!

Think a might take the tube >:-0

    Afternoon,

    I'm with Bingo and Deevs.

I too am fed up with this negativity around the Olympics. We have the honor of hosting the greatest sporting event on earth, and if it inconveniences us for a few weeks, so what! We'll get over it and the world will still keep on turning. I for one can't wait for it to start and am getting excited about seeing the Lympic torch pass my way on Friday.

Thank you for all your prayers and positive vibes for my little friend Tina, sadly she passed away on Monday. For the 12 years she was on earth, she was a little star, with the cutest smile and dimples; gone but never forgotten. (Thanks too for all the kind words on the other side, very much appreciated, it's been a tough couple of days).

Had a rought last couple of weeks, but slowly returning to normality, hope I didn't miss much.

    1) Sezza - can I join you on the sofa - really looking forward to the olympics
    2) ALi - I agree - wish people would stop belly aching about the olympics
    3) Bingo - don't be too quick to moan about forgein companies, I work for a Japanese company who plough lots of investment into this country, creating jobs and work for British people - including truch drivers - I can't complain!

    Afternoon folks,

CLP, so glad you are back on the radio , my car feels more bouncy in a morning now.

I'm with the others too , re the Olympics. I have shaken my head at so many of the decisions along the way. The first thing I didnt like to be open and honest, was the logo, but I've got over it now. Then the ticket ballot seemed a bit wobbly , but i'm over that too .As it gets closer , the press seem to be intent on blowing it out of the ground and finding fault with everything. Three cheers for the thousands of people who have worked so terribly hard to bring it here and produce it all, and will continue to graft until the doors close and eveyone goes home. Lets talk GB up instead of down for a change. We have so much to celebrate and show off about .
Right, I'll get back in my box now i've got that off my chesticles.

Ali, I have been thinking of you. xx

Right , am really going back in my box now .

Too many amazing voices in one trailer - LOL!! It made me want to cry for a whole host of reasons too!!! And to hear that Richard Burton voice especially...wow.....pure gold. I am definitely listening to that programme!!! Thanks!!

    afternoon all

Nice to see you Deevs and I think that happy juice can be found in the wine aisle in you local supermarket, Im sure thats where it is.

Can I just say that working for the main engineering consultancy who has just spent the last 6 years working on the "lympics" including the flagship stadium and surrounding venue's I think I am able to add my few pence in.

I understand that good news doesn't sell papers. But, surely we should give ourselves a pat on the back for having everything done and dusted (apart from the security which is someone elses problem) and up running. If I remember rightly at the Athens Olympics they still had wet paint it was that close. I know there is some whinging but hey ho its coming whether you like it or not.

I just hope that the rain goes away in time for the greatest show on earth.

Mr CB is still healing well and I ended up with two pairs of those 1940's undergarments yesterday and a bright red lipstick.

I tell you it is just as well I knew what they were for when I got home otherwise I could have well and truly got the wrong end of that particular stick and he could have been in a lot of trouble. Either that or I might have been pulling the house apart for his secret stash of fifty shades of grey....

Off on Monday to go and get his uniform and then we are set to go to the 1940's weekend.

    Happy hump day everyone

Bingo: without you, and the other wonderful people who deliver everything to shops, my husband would be without a job, and neither Cheryl nor I would be able to get our happy juice! I salute you - you are NOT just a truck driver! xx

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    Ello again...

Chrissie S & 'lost' Ali B (not on near an olympic lane are yer ;-))) ) - Thank you!!!!!!!

A agree we shouldn't get bogged down in problems with the olympics.... A want us ter show the world 'ow wonderful a country we can be!!!!!!!!!!
Like yer say Manchester Calling.... The press do seem ter be 'ell bend on singling out any bad.... The GS4 security thing is getting tiresome.... It seems every contract they 'ave a member of staff fail ter show up.... It 'its the 'eadlines.... BORING!!!!!!!!
In fact a feel slightly sorry for GS4 as something tells me the government are using them as a scapegoat ter a dergree for the governments failings!!!!!!!!!!!

A just 'ope the silly problems can be sorted ASAP and the madness ended of olympic lanes and security issues!!!!!!!!!
A went to the recent Royal Air Tattoo.... and the whole of the security there was done by military personel.... In unifroms.... The miltary police... Some with machine guns protecting the Stealth Bomber.... And the whole event was 'MOST NICE'!!!!!!

I'd love ter see military people in full uniforms looking after th eolympics.... Imagine the Queens Guard aka the Busbys in full uniform.... I'd look good ;-))))

Ave travelled ter contries like Russia and Thialand and am amazed at 'ow many people are walking arounbd with London & union jack t-shirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    They love us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a don't see any european flags or USA.... It's all british and it all comes form London's unique assets and royal family that set us on the world stage!!!!!!!

These are assets that money can not buy.... despite the modern madness that seems te rprevial with the running of our country...... The like of Trafalgar Square, The Mall, Buckingham Palace, Westminster etc etc etc DAMN IT brillo etc..... these are things that no businessman british or foreign can ge ttheir gruuby 'ands on and sell off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it's looks like the sun is gonna be 'ere for our olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WROCK ON blog dudes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 19.

PS Super B - A take yer point but yer 'ave noot gotta clue what yer talking about when it comes ter the 'aulage industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Foreign or should it be 'for gain' companies, for gain only to for thmeselves at our expense.... They are destroying our 'aulage industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've 'ad pay cuts of 40% due to foreign 'aulage companies taking over at places i've worked at.... And it's 'appened more than once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's why i'm not a tanker driver anymore.... I 'ad my pay cut.... I started te rthink why am I driving around in a 44 tonne bomb.... For 9 quid an 'our!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Basically tankers are mobile bombs.... Especially petrol tankers..... and some of the chemicals i've taken can burn yer arm off if yer spill it on yerself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's why i'm out and doing supermarket work.... More pay for less danger!!!!!!!!

And if any misinterpret me words as racist.... NOT at all am I racist.... I love foreign people..... and foreign countries (ave 'ad more foreign girlfriends than british).....
We are one world.... and VERY global nowadees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But a also love my country of the UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And find it very upsetting if a see greedy UK business people selling off parts of our wonderment..... all for a quick buck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of them would sell their mother's if it gave them a good profit!!!!!!

Me point 'ere Baggy is..... Yes i'm for a global world.... But not a global world in which the UK on it's knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless it's a British olympic athlete just done the longest long jump of the olympics and landed on their knees in the sand.... Then it's ok ter be on our knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Know what am tryin' ter say????!!!!!!!!!!!

    'ope this 'elps!

I wonder how much Bingo would sell me for LOL!

Annie-Does the wee spider hoover thingy work on bluebottles? I got into bed last night with my cup of drinking chocolate when a bluebottle kept on buzzing right into my face. Had to go downstairs and get a newspaper and after chasing it around for half an hour I finally got it but was unsure whether I had killed it or just stunned it. Hence me b eing awake half the night wondering if it would attack. Been attacked before and awoke with a very swollen face as I have an allergy!

Maddy, it works on all flying and creepy things. Have caught bluebottles, wasps, bees and spiders. It doesn't hurt them and you can chuck them out the window once you've caught them.

Evening CE and all in blogland, long time no blog, but I do have an excuse! I didn't hear much of Ryan Tubridy while he was on as I was on my secondment in London and having an absolute ball! In fact I have been asked to go back, from the end of the month, this time for ten weeks!

So I will be in London during the Olympics, though not driving! Even in a non-Olympic summer there is no way I would get behind the wheel in London, it looks too scary!!

Hope all is well in blogland, it's been raining all day here in Edinburgh, in fact I heard a really depressing statistic the other day. In the first ten days of July, Edinburgh saw a grand total of 1.5 hours of sunshine...

Thanks for that info-I'm going to get one of those asap. It's also a much more humane way of getting rid of them too.

I did discover the cause of me getting attacked by flies a few years back. It was caused by me using eye drops (the witch hazel in them) after washing off eye make up. It attracts flies but as I stopped using it I don't know why last night's fly was attacking.

Hi Chris, I am a volunteer driver using these 'special' lanes for the next three weeks. I want to show the world what great friendly and welcoming people us Brits are, so smile and wave when you see us, we would all welcome your support.

  • Comment number 34.

    Hello Slab7.

You must be a lovely person to offer to be a volunteer driver for three weeks. But it won't be easy for someone who has been sitting in a traffic queue for hours and is worrying about the consequences of their late arrival be it business or social to smile and wave at the odd passing vehicle in the games lane.

You have however solved Chris's problem! All he has to do is volunteer to drive athletes to the Olympic Park while he's heading in that direction!

What a lot of fuss about closing a few roads for a couple of weeks.

What do people suggest, let the competitors take their chances in the traffic.

Not exactly ideal preparation for the biggest event in their lives and what happens if they get held up - sorry, we are going to have to run the 100m without Usain Bolt, he's stuck on the Hammersmith flyover.

It's not like this has been sprung on people, this has been 7years in the planning, so people have had plenty of time to arrange their lives to fit in with this once in a lifetime experience.

    Good morning blogettes:

MBD: Well said. In a couple of months time - hopefully - we'll be looking back on magical Olympic Games in good old London town.

Just phoned friends (and neighbours) and was suprised to speak to their daughter. Didn't realise she was back from a round the world trip. Back to reality with a bump. She's now trying to find a job. Don't envy her. She's got a good degree in psychology and wants to work in that field. She's lucky enough to find a job and guess what - it's in a call centre. We must have the most well qualified call centre staff in the Northern hemisphere.

Weather continues much as before. Been assured it will improve by the weekend.

MBD - Just ter put yer correect on the olympic traffic situation..... If the competitors did take their chances in the London traffic.....

One they only arrive once from the airport.... Day's if not a week before their event then they stay for a month in London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's noot like they are commuting each dee/ day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly if they did get stuck in traffic.... Am sure Mr Bolt could run faster then the traffic..... The swimmers could drop inter the Thames and make their way ter the gig.... The Taekwondo dudes could kick their way through the traffic.... The triathlon dudes could swim, run, and cycle faster ter the gig.... The cyclists could use cycle at upter 50mph.... The weightlifters could rip the offending traffic lights causing the blockage clean outta the ground..... And the pole vaulters could 'op over the traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All good practice ready for the actual gig!!!!!!!

PS ALL - Just 'eard Lex Bruce play War Of The Worlds.... In which the lyrics go:

"At midnight on the twelfth of August, a huge mass of luminous gas erupted from Mars
and sped towards Earth. Across two hundred million miles of void, invisibly hurtling
towards us, came the first of the missiles that were to bring so much calamity to Earth.
As I watched, there was another jet of gas. It was another missile, starting on its way"

A can tell Jeff Wayne what it is 'e can see......

It's probably a GS4 security trainee accidently let off the surface ter air missiles that 'ave been placed on top of a block of flats ter protect the olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Annie: love to hear of your spider thingy and I had a look at on FB. It would seem it is effective, but I would need a 6ft pole attached to it ... do you have to get really close to the blighters to catch them?

AliB: Lynn being away for six weeks - oooh, I have missed this! Will have to check out what's happening - I will really miss her, she is just terrific and totally able to react to anything Chris comes up with!

PJ: there was a terrific interview with Jonny in the MoS a few weeks ago. He is really happy, loving teaching, and he really praised Chris and his time on the show. He was very honest about how "showbiz" affected his life and his ego. He is still a sweetheart, and I still miss him too!

Afternoon each from sunny Fife, just a few spit spots as PJ would say.

Bingo, would you stop sniffing that stuff!

Am so glad I don't live anywhere near London, the road to the Bridge with it's traffic cones and average speed cameras is quite enough for me (they're building a new bridge btw). Don't you ever wish you'd invented the traffic cone?

Morning Bingo ,nice to see you ,you on the go early this morning ,the Que to the loo for the gents wouldn't be anything to do with the liquid refreshments would it;-))

Well dare I say that we do have a wall to wall blue sky here this morning and its looking very much like we're in for a dry day,and I am going to hold my breath today, and wait.

And it's Friday with the weekend upon us again ,and hopefully for me it's going to be a sort out and chuck w/end, trying to make a little more room ,as I do admit to being a little bit of a hoarder.

I don't know what any of you are up to ,but what ever you decide on doing ,enjoy it and have a good one .

Chris - sooooooooooooooooooooo glad to have you back, Will is proving a good guest this morning

We had a WHOLE day yesterday without rain and I cannot believe the forecast for the next 7 days is SUN!!!! I'm thinking that the theory discussed on Jezza vine this week about the government shooting stuff into the clouds to make all the rain come before the lympics might be right!!!

Right best get a wiggle on, highlight of my weekend will be return of GD from Canada on Sunday eve - she's been gone 3 weeks and I've really missed her, cant wait for my hug :-)

Happy Friday everyone, I'll pop back later to do the honours Annie xxx

    Morning All,

Debs, (Lovely to read you ) xx I certainly am cheered up by the torch, what an atmosphere. Got a good spot and the build up was just as exciting as seeing the torch pass by. High fived some Policemen, got a free bottle of "the real thing" and generally waved my flag and cheered. The bloke carrying the torch had to run up a hill and he wasn't young, but our cheers spurred him on. Loads of people there as well, so now I am WELL UP for the Lympix.....can't wait.

Bit grey here, but quite muggy.

This afternoon I am going to do the school run with my Bezzie Mate as her 11 year old is leaving and both of them will be blubbering wrecks...bless.

Yer get 3 'our segments for the weekend that shows 'ow the jet stream is from terdee moving ter where it should be!!!!!!
'ence 'ot weather and sunnier dees are coming!!!!!!!!

The jet stream basically is a divide between warm weather and cold weather.... With alotta weather fronts getting sucked inter it and blown east by it's 100 ter 110mph winds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also saves 20% fuel if yer an airline pilot going east and yer fly in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too am having a mini cooked breakfast today, got some lovely organic free range eggs that have the yellowist yokes - jusy right for dipping toast in.

Chrissie - you are not wrong about the house being tidy! and so much less washing, and so much less food needed! GD said it was practice for me before she moves into uni accomodation in September - if thats the case bring it on! best of both as I can still see her but not have to tidy up after her!

Sunny here too right now so the garden might see a bit of weeding and dead heading to try and bring some life into the drenched pots. I picked my 3rd sweet pea flower yesterday - so am jealous of PJ going to the flower show, all but one plant have been eaten by slugs and snails :-(

    Hello peeps,

The sun has finally got its hat on here in the Shire of Cannock - yippeeeeee!

Had a busy couple of days, so sorry for lack of bloggery action.

My chap is off Umpiring today so I'm home alone with just The Lad Randall to talk to. It's quite nice just being in a "pottering" kind of mode, catching up on all the things I keep meaning to do during the week but never actually get round to doing - this morning I finaly got round to putting all the "Randall" paperwork in a folder I bought months ago: Kennel Club stuff, insurance docs, vets docs etc - he's got more paperwork than me and Nic!

Puppy Class went really well last night but there's still the small matter of "stay" - it's just not sinking in! He does a beautiful sit, an admirable "down" and even manages to "wait" for a few minutes (when crossing the road etc) but the notion of "stay" just ain't going in! We'll get there, with lots of perseverence and blackmail (training treats, I believe they're called ....!) We even had an extra "free" 40 minute session last night as I have trouble getting him in the car and settled, so one of the dog trainers came out with me and gave me a few pointers so I've just now got to put it all into practice. Yikes!

Next week is out last week of puppy school as we'll be in Headingley on 3rd August watching the cricket so will miss the last night of the 6 week block.

Well, I'm off to potter with the Eng v SA test match on in the background.

    Lovely!

    Have a deasant play y'all.

    Hi:

Greetings from a rather cloudy Glasgow, but no rain, thank goodness.

Just listening right now to Will and Chris - what a fantastic interview, I am loving it. Just typing this while Moira is reading the 9 o'clock news!

Sezza: hope you enjoyed your breakfast!

Debs: oh, honestly, when your GD moves out, you will not know yourself. Now, be prepared, you will cry and you will miss her so much it is actually painful ... and then it gets a whole lot better! I thought I would never adjust to MsS moving out, but now it's just wonderful to meet up with her, visit her, and not be responsible for picking up after her!

Cheryl: bless wee Randall. Sounds like he is getting there, and you are getting great help and advice. It's all good!

Ooooh, Hanging On The Telephone starting - good grief, I will have to listen to this interview all over again!

Oh, Didn't we have a lovely day, the day we went to Southwold!

A walk on the Pier, a stroll along here

And all finished off with fish n chips on the beach at Aldebrugh!

Isn't amazing how one day of sunshine doing things with the people (and dog!) that you love just makes you feel 100% better!

I have to say that I was feeling pretty miserable on Friday - i was a proper grumpy moo!

One day walking around my favourite seaside town and eating ice cream and being near the sea has proper perked me up!

Hope it's lovely where you are too and that, if the weather's not so good, you can find something to cheer you up!

Hope you managed to get all the shopping done yesterday, and you rustled up a nice meal for you and Mr Bids. I will let Mary know you are asking for her - she is having a super-busy weekend with all sorts happening. xx

Last night, MrS and I watched Sense and Sensibility - one of my favourite movies, but I wasn't too sure if MrS would enjoy it. But, he really loved it especially when Hugh Laurie showed up - he's a big House fan! Ooooh, Alan Rickman - just a babe!

    Happy Sunday Everyone.

Oh Didn't we have a loverly day, the day we went to Lytham.

We too had a lovely day on Friday but we did go one day early before the summer arrived on Saturday. When we left home it was sunny but just as we arrived at the model village in Blackpool down came the rain. We waited in the car until the rain cloud passed but there was no wind and it stayed over us. So we decided to go straight to the zoo. It opened in 1972, just a small childrens zoo until the council sold it off to a company who spent £10m over 5 years. They in turn sold it to Spanish Leisure giants who have continued the investment and development. It's now as good as Chester zoo.

We rain continued but thankfully went off while we were at the zoo. We then went on to drive along Blackpool sea front on to Lytham, a lovely seafront, where we enjoyed ice scream, etc. Then on to have a quick look at the golf (didn't go in in fact everyone was leaving, Australians, Chinese, Americans, all nationalalities.)

All in all it was a lovely day!

    Afternoon to you all,

Well like Sezza said ,what a difference a bit of sun makes .Have been in the garden since I got up and really worked hard and it's looking good and will look even better tomorrow as we're having a big conifer taken down and the big hedge at the bottom of the garden cut ,we don't do it and I wont let Ken ,don't want him falling .Its sad to see the tree go ,but I'm afraid its in the wrong ,but it will be replaced with another tree, not sure what one yet.

Sezza ,your day out sounded fab ,and I'm pleased that your not so glum ;-)) as I would never ever say you were ,as your always full of spirits. now that ironing that you're trying to avoid ,is there any chance you could do my little pile instead.

Crissie , lovely to see you as ever, yes we did get the shopping done £170 odd couldn't believe it and there is only two of us . we had a meal deal in the end which was quite nice and not much faffing around when we got home.
and funny you should mention House ,that's one of our favorites too. and also funny saying about watching films ,I watched titanic for the first time on Friday ,never seen it before ,always put it off but so glad I did in the end ,and then after that the film Avatar was on and I'd not seen that either ,and enjoyed that too.

Glad to hear that Mary is on a fab w/end and getting up to lots ,and hoping that there is some of that pink stuff involved somewhere.

Maddy ,sounds like you've had a nice run out up to Lytham and Blackpool ,it's nice to go off somewhere isn't it .It's years since Ive been to Chester Zoo ,and lovely to hear that the zoo you visited was of the same standard.

Debs ,catching up with daughter is going to be fun and hope that you both have lots to tell each other . Brighton ,your just along the road from me , are you coming back this way or going t'other way ,I'll message you just in case we have chance of a catch up ourselves;-))

I need to take some photos of our gardens at work for a competition so I'm going to do that while the sun is out and the gardens look lovely!

Then, off to see the vampires this afternoon to help stock up the blood banks

Did you know, they are really in need of everyone who can to donate blood at the moment. Apparently, because a lot of people are away or busy and not able to attend their session and there are a lot of people expected to arrive for some sports day thingy, they really need everyone who can to pop along a donate some blood.

If you see them near you, they're ever so nice and you still get a cup of tea and a biscuit (or a packet of crisps if you prefer!)

Sweet Pea show yesterday was lovely. The smell in the marquee was wonderful. The only problem is that it makes me so discontent with what I manage to achieve.

The show seems to get a little smaller each year which is a great shame. Wem is a lovely old Shropshire town, sleepy and a little down at heel. It's obviously had money in the past from the look of some of the buildings.

Howdy peeps - long time no blog, but I have been reading it regularly to see what you have all been up to although way too much to comment on.

PJ - agree weather is lovely in our neck of the woods. Yesterday was even nicer and I spent most of the day in Llangollen attending a choir workshop in the afternoon and then the choir was performing at an evening concert within the ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey - a beautiful setting that really inspired us to sing out with heart and soul.
The concert was the final event of the Llangollen Fringe Festival which follows on from the International Music Eisteddfod.

Hoping to have a bit of an earlier finish today as the weather looks to be turning cloudier tomorrow according to the BBC weather service - so it would be nice to make the most of this afternoon.

Play nicely everyone and Happy Monday :O)

Nice to 'see' you again. Would you believe it we were in Valle Crucis the Sunday before. Hadn't been for years. Hubbies sister is live in the US & married to a Yank and they are visiting 'home' at the moment. Took them to Froncsyllte (sp ???) aqueduct, onto Valle Crucis and then Chirk Castle.

Amazing to think that Valle Crucis has been a ruin longer than the USA has been the USA if you know what I mean.

    Lunchtime beckons. Regards PJ
